WATERVILLE – Colby College will inaugurate the George J. Mitchell Distinguished Lecture Series beginning this fall with the first lecture by Mitchell himself at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Page Commons Room at Cotter Union.

Mitchell, a former U.S. Senator and Waterville native, will deliver a lecture titled, “America’s Role in the World in the 21st Century.”

The series, under the direction of the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement, was launched by contributions from Mitchell’s family and friends eager to bring a high-profile event to Colby. The series will be held in September each year and officials hope to attract prominent world leaders to Waterville.

For more information, visit the Goldfarb Center’s Web site at www.colby.edu/goldfarbcenter.
