Lori King will be installed as the new postmaster at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Irving Tanning Community Center, 62 Elm St. The oath of office will be administered by Rene Albert, manager, Post Office Operations for the District of Maine. The new postmaster began her postal career eight years ago as a part-time flexible clerk at Fairfield and Waterville. In 1999, King transferred to Belfast and served in Clinton in 2001 and Hartland in 2003. King also worked at the Unity and Pittsfield post offices. Her detail assignments have included officer in charge at the Fairfield, Athens, Solon and Hartland post offices. As postmaster, King will be responsible for four employees handling the mail for 485 post office box holders and 497 deliveries on rural routes.
