BANGOR – Police on Thursday released a sketch of a man believed to be involved in an assault and potential abduction, which occurred at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Third and Patten streets.
A 34-year-old woman, who was waiting for the bus, told police that she noticed a man in a shiny, black, luxury-style sedan had driven by her several times.
The operator of the vehicle was described as a white male in his 40s, who was tall and thin, with full, brown hair and mirrored sunglasses, police reports said.
After passing by the woman a few times, the vehicle pulled up behind her and the man grabbed her right arm, trying to pull her through the open driver’s side window, she said.
The victim and the suspect struggled for approximately 15 seconds, at which time the woman was able to pull herself free from the man’s grip.
The woman said she believed her attacker was scared off by pedestrians who were on their way to the fair, police reports said.
Police reports said that the woman did not get a license plate number on the vehicle, but could identify the vehicle again.
Anyone with information about the incident, or the identity of the man, is asked to call the Bangor Police Department at 947-7384, ext. 223.
