MAINE-LY CHILDREN

Kevin, 6, is bright and curious

Kevin is an adorable boy with auburn hair, blue eyes and freckles.

Active and engaging, Kevin enjoys sewing, cooking, playing outside and any activity in which he can build things. He recently took soccer and swimming lessons and also participates in Cub Scouts.

A curious child, Kevin enjoys learning and experimenting, particularly with science-based activities. He receives special assistance with reading at school, and his teachers have expressed their pleasure with the progress he has made.

Aside from reading, Kevin is mainstreamed in his classroom and does well at school. He is very bright and enjoys participating in many different types of activities.

Kevin does best when he receives one-on-one attention from an adult, although he can entertain himself and play well with other children. Kevin is able to take turns and share with his peers, but sometimes has less patience and will shove his playmates. Kevin is able to make friends and is seeking positive friendships and relationships at school.

Due to Kevin’s behavior, it is important that he is monitored closely. Even when showing affection, Kevin can become overly aggressive.

Kevin can be very thoughtful, and he seeks positive attention and nurturing from others. He would be most successful in a family that can provide structure, routine and nurturing. Kevin requires parents who will engage him in various activities and hold him accountable for negative behavior in a positive way.

Adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family.

Kevin is one of 222 Maine children in Maine DHHS care who are seeking an adoptive family. For information about him or other children available for adoption, please contact A Family for ME at (877) 505-0545, or visit www.afamilyforme.org.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
