WASHINGTON – U.S. Reps. Michael Michaud and Henry Brown, R-S.C., the chairman of the House veteran’s affairs subcommittee on health, will hold a field hearing in Bangor later this month to examine rural veterans’ access to primary care.

“Maine veterans routinely travel more than two hours each way to obtain anything beyond the most basic levels of care,” said Michaud, the ranking member of the subcommittee on health. “This field hearing will give Chairman Brown and me a chance to hear directly from Maine veterans on what can be done to improve rural access.”

Michaud announced Friday that the hearing will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in Room 501 of Rangeley Hall at Eastern Maine Community College.
