Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., promises some baseball on Saturday and worship with a Latin beat on Sunday. Pastor Elaine Hewes said about 25 people from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Providence, R.I., are visiting the Bangor congregation this weekend. Many of Gloria Dei’s parishioners are Spanish speakers. The Rhode Island church is a mission partner of Redeemer’s, and a dozen Redeemer members visited there last fall. This weekend, Tony Fernandez, a former Major League Baseball player, will be with the group, giving a baseball clinic to the youngsters at Bangor East Little League field off Forest Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Youth from both congregations will participate in worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.
