A New York woman who took a taxi Monday from Portland to Bangor but couldn’t pay the $250 fare was arrested on outstanding warrants and also was charged with theft of services.
Rachel Guimond, 23, originally from Indian Island, was picked up early Monday afternoon in Portland and dropped off at about 4 p.m. at an apartment on Griffin Road in Bangor, according to Bangor police Officer Jeffrey Small’s report.
Guimond went inside to get money, but came back out and told the driver she didn’t have any. She did give the taxi driver a Penobscot Indian identification card and her Social Security card, the report stated.
The driver, employed by South Street Taxi of Portland, went to the Bangor police station and spoke with Officer Small, who followed the taxi back to Griffin Road.
Small knocked on the door and spoke with a woman who said Guimond was not there. Since Small did not have a warrant he was not let inside.
The officer returned to the police station and received a call shortly before 6 p.m. from the woman, who said that Guimond was there. Small returned and arrested Guimond, who had outstanding warrants for criminal threatening, domestic assault, violating bail and possession of Schedule Z drugs.

Bangor police are investigating the theft of more than $1,500 worth of tools that were taken between Friday and Sunday from the back of a pickup truck parked on Finson Road.
The truck’s owner notified police Monday that several tools, including two screw guns, two drills, two saws and a 150-piece socket set, were missing, according to Officer Christopher Blanchard’s police report.
The owner told Blanchard that he parked the truck at a job site and that the tools were chained when he left on Friday, according to the report.
