The Quimby Family Foundation, established in 2003 by Roxanne Quimby, a summer resident of Winter Harbor, has completed its first annual giving program. Sixteen grants, totaling $500,000, were awarded to assist local and regional organizations dedicated to preserving the environment and supporting the arts.

The Quimby Family Foundation, established in 2003 by Roxanne Quimby, a summer resident of Winter Harbor, has completed its first annual giving program.

Sixteen grants, totaling $500,000, were awarded to assist local and regional organizations dedicated to preserving the environment and supporting the arts.

Grant recipients will receive their awards at a luncheon Aug. 25 at the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth.

Grant recipients are:

. Center Theater for the Performing Arts, Dover-Foxcroft.

. The Chewonki Foundation, Wiscasset.

. Coastal Recycling Corp., Hancock.

. Four Directions Development Corp., Orono.

. Maine Farmland Trust, Bucksport.

. Maine Indian Basket Makers, Old Town.

. New England Wilderness Trust, Montpelier.

. Unity College, Unity.

. University of Maine, Orono.
