Kelly Services Inc., a global staffing company, has expanded its office clerical staffing services in the Bangor area. Located at One Cumberland Place, the branch evaluates and places specialized office professionals in accounting, legal, medical, insurance and mortgage fields.

For evaluations, the branch will use the Adapative Testing feature of the Kelly PinPoint Selection System. The suite of tests was designed to evaluate the specialized skills unique to accounting, medical, legal, insurance and mortgage fields.

Skills to be tested include accounts receivable, accounts payable, legal, medical, insurance and mortgage areas.

New postmaster

Mary Jane Lucas, whose experience includes supervision at post offices in Bangor and other communities, will be installed as the new postmaster of Palmyra at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Palmyra Post Office. Randy Michaud, manager, Post Office Operations for the U.S. Postal Service, District of Maine, will administer the oath of office.

Lucas began her postal career 18 years ago as a part-time flexible clerk, working in several offices in Maine. She has served as officer in charge at the Dover-Foxcroft, Newport, Corinna, Orland, Guilford and Sedgwick post offices. She has been involved with a networking group for 15 years, helping to develop employees and organizing career conferences.

Lucas, as postmaster, is responsible for six employees handling the mail for 305 post office box holders and 651 deliveries on the rural route.

Hudson

Sound systems business

Miguel Basaldua has opened Public Address Communication System in Hudson.

He founded the sound systems business in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas, and moved it to Hudson earlier this year.

Basaldua’s experience includes working in civilian specialty training schools and a career in the U.S. Air Force where he spent 21 years as a ground radio communications craftsman. He advanced from student up through the ranks to electronics trainer.

Basaldua is a native Hispanic-Basque Texan.
