Continuing its Silver Anniversary Summer Music Festival, Arcady Music Society will present “The Soul of the Guitar” with classical guitarist Antonio DeInnocentis of Italy. DeInnocentis has prepared a program spanning three centuries of guitar music, including works by Domenico Scarlatti and Paganini, and arrangements of Scott Joplin ragtime classics.
He was born in Naples in 1961. In 1985 he was awarded summa cum laude at the Cimarosa Conservatory in Avellino.
DeInnocentis has won first prize in several guitar competitions including those in Pesaro and Bardolino in 1981 and in Genoa in 1984. He was the first guitarist in the world to perform the entire “24 Caprices” by Paganini in a single concert in Avellino, Italy, in 1992. Composers who have dedicated their works to him include John W. Duarte, Larry Cooperman, John Bent, Pasquale Bifulco from the USA, Jonatas Batista-Neto from Brazil, Luigi Arbolino and Marcello Parisi from Italy, Peter Stewart from Scotland and Neil Smith from England
In his upcoming performances he will perform many selections from his most recent CD release, “Premier!” including: Gabriel Faure’s “Pavane” opus 50, Scarlatti’s Four Sonatas, and arrangements of Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer.”

. 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, Alamo Theatre, Main Street, Bucksport.
May Ye, a winner in the Arcady Youth Competition, will play at the beginning of each concert.
