Fern Street fence spurs bad blood

A Fern Street resident in Bangor was angered with her neighbor for putting up a fence and received a summons Wednesday for criminal mischief after attempting to pull it down.

Eleanor Robinson, 38, of Bangor was upset when her neighbor, Kim Ouellette, 36, erected a fiberglass fence to separate the two properties, a police report said.

As Ouellette was eating dinner around 6 p.m., she noticed Robinson outside pulling on her fence, trying to knock it over.

Ouellette told police that it had been an ongoing dispute, where, in addition to the destructive behavior, the neighbor showed her disagreement by swearing at Ouellette.

The damage, according to Ouellette, was estimated at $700, which will be the cost to reset the fence that is leaning toward Robinson’s home now, the report said.

When Officer Robert Hutchings Jr. was outside inspecting the fence with Ouellette, Robinson wandered over and got “aggressive verbally,” according to the report. Hutchings gave her a disorderly conduct warning.

Ouellette’s boyfriend told police that three weeks prior, he had observed Robinson pushing the fence and had ordered her to stop in fear of the fence uprooting.

Robinson on Wednesday denied doing damage and was summoned for criminal mischief.
