Nomination packets for those interested in running for Brewer City Council, the Brewer School Committee or High School trustees are available at City Hall, Arthur Verow, city clerk, announced Wednesday. “One person has already picked up a packet” to run for City Council, he said. Potential candidates will need signatures from 50 registered voters in Brewer to be placed on the Nov. 1 election ballot. The 3-year terms of Mayor Joseph Ferris, school committee members Mary Ann McGuire and Frank Farley and the 5-year term of trustee Frank Breau Jr. will expire at the end of the year. Completed nomination petitions can be dropped off at City Hall after Sept. 2, and the filing deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 19. (Nok-Noi Hauger, BDN)
