Carmel man hurtin ATV rollover taken to EMMC

A Carmel man was injured Sunday afternoon when he rolled his ATV over in the driveway of a private residence on Plymouth Road in Carmel.

Steven Lindsay of Carmel, estimated to be in his early 30s by Game Warden Dan Scott, turned a corner in the driveway and rolled the ATV.

Rescuers initially thought of calling an air ambulance to take Lindsay to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, but because of time concerns, they decided to transport him by ground ambulance instead.

Scott said that Lindsay was conscious and talking at the scene, but he complained of lacerations to his leg and head. At the hospital he was being tested for a possible concussion, Scott said.

Lindsay was not wearing a helmet and no charges were pending, but some may be forthcoming because Lindsay did admit to consuming alcohol before the accident, Scott said.

A joy ride allegedly taken by three Bangor youths was cut short by Bangor police early Sunday morning.

The evening began for the youths when Tyler Muzzy, 21, of Bangor left his vehicle unlocked and the keys on top of the visor in the parking lot to Entertainment Cinemas at the Bangor Mall late Saturday night while he attended a movie. When Muzzy returned, his 2002 Mazda vehicle was gone, police reports said.

At 1:35 a.m. Sunday, an officer located the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Union Street and Griffin Road and pulled the car over just before Maine Avenue.

Chad Leeman, 20, was driving the vehicle, and Kevin Breault-Stiles, 20, was in the back seat behind the driver, while Devan Vance, 20, was in the passenger seat, police said.

Although Leeman and Breault-Stiles wouldn’t talk at the scene, Vance told officers that the three noticed the keys in the ignition of the car and decided to joy ride for a bit and then take it back to the mall area and leave it where they found it, according to police reports.

All three were arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, charged with unauthorized use of property. They were given a court date of Sept. 13.

The Brewer Police Department fished a truck out of the Penobscot River in Eddington on Sunday afternoon. It later was discovered that the truck had been stolen the previous night.

According to Sgt. Jason Moffitt, a report of an abandoned vehicle in the river near the Eddington public landing came in around noon Sunday. Officers dispatched to the scene identified it as a truck and had it towed out of the water shortly thereafter.

Officers later found that the vehicle had been reported stolen the night before from an area residence.

Moffitt said he assumed that whoever stole the truck ended up dumping it in the river at some point during the night or early morning.

The name of the owner of the truck was not released. The incident was still under investigation by Sunday evening, and no suspects in the theft had been identified. The condition of the truck was not known.

A Bangor woman was summoned late Saturday night after providing false identification when trying to enter a nightclub on Wilson Street in Brewer, police said.

Police were dispatched to the nightclub after security officials said they had refused entry to a group because Kristina Herbert, 21, of Bangor provided identification that was not her own, said Sgt. Jason Moffitt of the Brewer Police Department. Police then left the nightclub in search of the vehicle in which she was riding.

Once the police trailed and stopped the vehicle, Herbert admitted that her neighbor had allowed her to use her license because Herbert had lost her own, Moffitt said.

Herbert was summoned for displaying another’s license as her own.
