HALSINKI, FINLAND – Emily LeVan of Wiscasset, who recently won the title as top Maine women finisher at the TD Banknorth Beach to Beacon 10K, placed 35th out of 51 runners in the marathon at the World Track and Field Championships.
LeVan, 32, ran to a personal-best time of 2 hours, 38 minutes, 32 seconds. Taking first was Paula Radcliffe of Great Britain in 2:20:57, setting a course record in the process.
