UMaine-Farmington senior Adam Staier captured a 5K racewalking event in Cambridge, MA while four other Mainers placed in the NACAC World Cup in Hauppauge, NY.

Staier cruised to the win on a hot and humid day to win the Danehy Park 5K event while another Mainer, Sara Adams of Lisbon Falls, finished second in the women’s race in 37 minutes, 32 seconds.

In New York, Kate Dickinson, a junior at UMF and a native of South Berwick, finished first in the women’s 20-22 5K in 28:15. Boothbay’s Lauren Forgues took fourth in the 17-19 division (27:26).

On the men’s side, former Ellsworth High standout Ben Shoery, a native of Osborn, rolled to the win in the 20-22 10K with a time of 48:01. Aaron Carroll of Gardiner took third in the 14-16 3K event in 17:17.
