LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Bangor 16-and-under ASA Softball Team finished sixth in the Class B National Championship recently in Georgia.
The team stayed alive with an offensive explosion that produced 23 runs in two games on Aug. 5.
Bangor beat Brewer 8-3 and defeated previously unbeaten Saratoga, N.Y., 15-5.
In the first game, Tawnya Godinez doubled twice and drove in five runs to lead Bangor past their regional rivals.
Katy MacDonald pitched a five-hitter while notching five strikeouts and walking no one. Amy Hackett had two singles and two RBIs for Bangor
Jordan McLain and Sarah Risser each doubled for Brewer, which was eliminated.
In the second game, Stacey Gomm walked four while throwing another five-hitter as her team belted out 18 hits.
Gomm had three singles and three RBIs for 2-1 Bangor while Hackett had two singles and a double. Stevenson had three singles and Erica Tweedie added two.
Laura Byer singled twice and Katie Ives doubled for Saratoga.
