Madawaska rolls to third victory

MADAWASKA – Ashley A. Cyr scored three goals and Ashley D. Cyr added a goal and two assists as the Owls improved to 3-0 on the season with a 6-1 high school girls soccer victory over Houlton Friday.

Jamie Nadeau and Kallie Pelletier also scored for Madawaska, which led 3-0 at intermission. Beth Gerard chipped in with two assists.

Malory McPhartland scored an unassisted goal for 0-1 Houlton.

Liz LaPlante made six saves on seven shots for Madawaska, while Houlton’s Nicole Manton stopped 24 of 31 shots.

JV: Madawaska 2-1

So. Aroostook 7, C. Aroostook 2

At Mars Hill, Kim Grant scored a pair of goals as Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook earned the victory.

Mindy Grant, Kelly Grant, Carol King, Audrey Charette and Brittany Charette each added a goal for the 1-1 Warriors.

Melinda Levesque scored twice for 0-3 Central Aroostook, with Alisha Cote assisting on one of the goals.

Southern Aroostook’s Shana Martin made six saves on 11 shots, while Cote and Latisha Neese combined to make 11 saves on 30 shots.

Ashland 2, Van Buren 2 (2OT)

At Ashland, the Crusaders’ Lindsay Lajoie scored with 6:03 left in the game to force the tie.

Megan Lajoie scored the first goal while Lisa Levasseur saved two of six shots for 0-1-1 Van Buren.

Kasey Boyd led 0-0-1 Ashland with a goal and an assist, and Whitney Flynn added a goal. Ashley Nemer stopped four out of eight shots.

Van Buren 6, Ashland 4

At Ashland, Ben Doucette and Craig St. Pierre each scored two goals for the Crusaders in the win.

Trevor Hews notched a goal plus an assist for 1-0-1 Van Buren while Alex Martin added a goal of his own. John Castonguay and Andrew Taylor combine for six saves on 10 shots.

Isaac Ward knocked in two goals to lead the 0-1 Hornets. Carl Nemer tallied a goal and assist while Sam Cobb had a goal. Lucas Belanger stopped 16 out of 22 shots.

SAHS 3, CAHS 0

At Mars Hill, Adam Anderson started the scoring for Southern Aroostook with an unassisted goal 14:55 into the first half.

Josh Branscombe and Robert Toothaker added a goal for 3-0 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook. Colby Clark made six saves on 12 shots.

Josh Faulkner for Central Aroostook made 13 saves on 16 shots.

Madawaska 2, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Billy Roy and Tyler Levesque both scored unassisted goals in the second half to lead Madawaska past Houlton.

Andrew Levesque made ten saves on ten shots for the 1-0-1 Owls.

Evan Thompson stopped five out of seven shots for 0-1 Houlton

Cen. Aroostook 2, Easton 1 (OT)

At Mars Hill Thursday, Manny Martinez scored the second of his two unassisted goals with 2:09 left in the second overtime to give the Panthers the win.

Josh Faulkner had five saves on 11 shots for Central Aroostook, now 1-1.

Brad Trask scored unassisted for the 2-1 Bears while Jeremy Brock blocked seven out of 19 shots.
