A Bangor woman decided to take her 8-year-old son to a Saco amusement park Friday, but police said she was in no condition to make the trip.
Bangor police stopped Carol W. Ross Friday afternoon after being tipped off that she was driving in the area and probably shouldn’t have been.
Ross was wearing a nightgown, no socks or shoes and told police she had taken some medications and had at least one beer earlier, according to a police report.
Ross told Officer Wade Betters that she wanted to take her son to Funtown USA to make up for ruining his birthday. She said that she probably wouldn’t try to make the whole trip at once and planned to stop off at a hotel.
Betters reported that after field sobriety tests he determined that Ross was clearly impaired and he arrested her on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants. The boy was taken home.
A 20-year-old Ellsworth man was arrested Saturday in Bangor after he used false identification to get into a nightclub.
Bangor police Officer Jason Ouellette was working detail at Club Gemini on Harlow Street when an employee came to him with a Maine identification card that he suspected was invalid.
Ouellette asked the man who presented the card, which identified him as Zachary Spaulding, 22, if the picture was him. The man said it was. Ouellette then asked the man what his address was and he replied, “I don’t know … somewhere in Sullivan … I move around a lot,” according to the officer’s report.
The man’s wallet, however, contained several items inside with the name Paul Cote, 20. The officer confirmed with dispatch that the man matched the description they had for Paul Cote, complete with a tribal tattoo on his left shoulder.
Cote was arrested for misuse of identification and was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
A Bangor man reported Saturday the theft of two handguns that had been taken from a locked wall cabinet inside his Union Street home.
The 65-year-old man told police that the guns were both 9mm pistols worth approximately $1,700, according to a report by Bangor police Officer Butch Moor.
The man said the key to the cabinet, which he kept in a jar in his kitchen, also was missing. The officer wrote that the man’s 15-year-old grandson, who lives at the Union Street home, may have had something to do with the theft.
Police requested that the man forward the guns’ serial numbers to an officer in case any firearms turn up.
