A Bangor man was arrested Tuesday morning for terrorizing two women over the Internet.

Christopher L. Rockwell, 25, was conversing online with his ex-girlfriend and her friend, who were on another computer together, just after midnight, when he became “very threatening” toward the two women, a police report said.

The two women, ages 18 and 19, went to the Bangor Police Department with a printout of the online conversation. The police report indicated that Rockwell said he was going to murder them and that he “kills for fun.” The printout also had Rockwell saying he would follow his ex-girlfriend home and “wait ’til all the lights are off and murder everyone there,” according to the police report.

At that point of the conversation, the ex-girlfriend was frightened and afraid to leave the house, the report said. Her friend tried to “lighten” the conversation by telling Rockwell that he was funny.

Rockwell responded with “you won’t think that with a knife in your neck,” and added that his new girlfriend could beat up either of the two women.

The friend said she was going to police, and Rockwell said, “Find me.” At least one of the women knew where Rockwell lived.

When Officer Edward Mercier arrived at Rockwell’s residence, Rockwell said that he wouldn’t actually follow through with any of the threats; he said, however, that one of the women did threaten to beat him up.

Mercier issued Rockwell a summons and told the man if he had any contact with either woman he would face felony charges for tampering with a witness.
