Foreign Direct Investment magazine has ranked Maine the top U.S. state for quality of life in its guide for best investment locations. It listed Maine as leading the country in high school graduation rates and a top 10 percent ranking in quality education. It also mentioned the state’s laptop program for seventh and eighth graders and the fact Maine was the first state to provide 100 percent of schools and libraries with Internet access. Also stressed were Maine’s natural beauty, including coastline, mountain ranges, lakes and rivers.
