Flewelling, Brock power Bears to win

EASTON – Nick Flewelling knocked in two unassisted goals to give netminder Jeremy Brock all the scoring he would need as the Easton Bears blanked the Washburn Beavers 2-0 in schoolboy soccer action Wednesday.

Brock made 38 saves on 45 shots for Easton.

Stephen Pesut made 17 saves on 26 shots for Washburn.

Katahdin 10, Hodgdon 0

At Hodgdon, Patrick Willett scored a goal and assisted on two others to help lead the Cougars past Hodgdon.

Cameron Cunningham, Marshal Davis, Alex McAvoy, Andy Kay, Tom Anderson, Paul Lovett, Ethan Qualey, Billy Duffy, and Peter Johnson each scored a goal for 1-0 Katahdin of Stacyville. Burton Brayal made three saves on six shots.

Alex Harris stopped 31 of 55 shots for 0-4 Hodgdon.

Fort Fairfield 4, Cen. Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, Ryan Noyes and Brock Kilcollins each scored two goals to push Fort Fairfield to the win.

Mitch McLaughlin dished out an assist for the 3-1 Tigers. Billy Scull made four saves on 20 shots.

Shaun Walling scored on a corner kick in the second half for 2-3 Central Aroostook. Josh Faulkner stopped nine of 20 shots.

Presque Isle 7, Houlton 0

At Presque Isle, Travis Brooker tallied three goals and one assist as the Wildcats rolled to the win.

Greg Whitaker notched a goal and three assists while Logan Young registered a goal plus an assist for 1-0 Presque Isle. Nate Carter and Brandon Adams added a goal each while goalies Adam Kingsbury and Chris Wilcox combined on a shutout without facing a shot.

Eben Thompson recorded 11 saves on 18 shots for the 0-2 Shiretowners.

Madawaska 7, Limestone 0

At Madawaska, Dom Rossignol scored two goals and had an assist to lead Madawaska to the win.

Tyler Levesque had two goals for the 3-0-1 Owls. Billy Roy, Paul Roy, and Jordan Albert each scored a goal. Andrew Levesque stopped both shots he faced.

Ryan Dionne made 15 saves on 22 shots for 2-2 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Math.

Fort Kent 2, Van Buren 2 (2OT)

At Van Buren, Bud Soucy scored the tying goal with 1:30 left in the second half to force overtime for Fort Kent.

Tom Desjardines scored a first-half goal for 0-0-1 Fort Kent. Joe Soucy made seven saves on 15 shots.

Lance Smith scored a first-half goal for 2-0-2 Van Buren and Riley Lizotte added a goal with seven minutes left in the second half. Andrew Taylor stopped five out of 12 shots.

Girls soccer

Lee 9, Southern Aroostook 0

At Dyer Brook, Karin Bird scored three goals and Dana Houghton added two to lead Lee to its season-opening win.

Aarika Ritchie and Amanda Gifford each added a goal and an assist for the winners and Brooke Harris and Kimmy Thurlow had a goal apiece. Jackie Moors, Harris and Gifford combined for four saves on four shots.

For 1-2 SAHS, Shana Martin and Audrey Charette combined for 20 saves on 39 shots.

Madawaska 5, Limestone 1

At Madawaska, Ashley A. Cyr knocked in two goals to lead the Owls to the win.

Beth Gerard notched a goal plus an assist for 4-0 Madawaska while Jamie Nadeau and Ashley D. Cyr had a goal apiece. Liz Laplante had 14 saves on 16 shots.

Kelly Peers scored unassisted for the 2-2 Eagles. Melanie Allen stopped 16 out of 28 shots.

Washburn 7, Easton 0

At Easton, Erica McDougall knocked in two goals as the Beavers rolled past Easton.

Jessica Drost, Alex Byrd, Morgan Berube, Charly Chandler, and Kelsee McLaughlin notched a goal apiece for 3-1 Washburn. Amber Palmer stopped all five shots she faced.

Briana White made 33 saves on 42 shots for the 1-4 Bears.

Hodgdon 6, Katahdin 2

At Hodgdon, Casey Nightingale scored three goals to push Hodgdon to victory.

Brianne McGary scored two goals and assisted on two others for 5-1 Hodgdon. Sarah Ryan added a goal and Heather London made eight saves on 12 shots.

Ronni Robinson scored on a direct kick and a penalty kick for 0-1 Katahdin of Stacyville. Clarissa Gallagher stopped 12 of 21 shots.

Presque Isle 6, Houlton 0

At Presque Isle, Kayla Legassie scored three goals to lead Presque Isle to win in their opener.

Kylan Smith had two goals for the 1-0 Wildcats. Katie DeLong had a goal and an assist and Jana Clukey added an assist. Molly Hamel and Alisen Donovan combined for the shutout and faced no shots.

Kathy Putnam stopped 27 of 40 shots for 0-2 Houlton.
