HAMPDEN – Robert Gagner is the winner of a garage raffle sponsored by Friends of Hampden Football.

In its first year of operation, the group raised much-needed money to support Hampden Academy’s football program. Along with other fundraisers, including a yard sale, enough money was raised to refurbish the academy’s football locker room and help purchase new uniforms for the team.

The locker room, rebuilt with a new coach’s room, refurbished lockers and upgraded electrical system, was further enhanced by artwork applied by student volunteers. The walls were painted with murals and inspirational quotes from Vince Lombardi and other football legends.

The garage raffle, the brainchild of Harry Rancourt, president of Friends of Hampden Football, was an effective tool in helping to further the organization’s goal to assist the Hampden Academy football program and to enhance student athletes’ high school football experience.

The garage was constructed by H&A Carpentry with property and materials donated by PDQ Door, Smith’s Concrete and Crescent Lumber.
