A woman received minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when her vehicle pinned her against a building in Newport.
Julie Moonlight, 31, of Dover-Foxcroft was at an ice cream shop on Route 7 in Newport when she left her truck in gear as she went to the window to place an order just after 4 p.m., said Newport police Officer Sanger Davis.
The vehicle didn’t begin moving until Moonlight was giving her order at the window, Davis said. It had been parked near the window and rolled only a few feet before it pinned the woman.
Moonlight complained of back pain and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor by Dexter ambulance.
The damage to the woman’s truck was estimated at $500, while the building had minor damage as well. The stainless steel counter where customers place orders was slightly bent, Davis said.
A Bangor woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday evening after an oncoming vehicle reportedly failed to yield before making a left turn.
Annmarie Dubois, 50, was driving her Honda minivan on the Griffin Road just after 5 p.m. when Adam Beaulieu, 23, of Bangor allegedly failed to yield before making a left turn onto Ohio Street, a police report said.
The air bags deployed in Dubois’ vehicle, which carried one passenger who wasn’t injured.
Estimated damage totaled $5,000 for Dubois’ Honda, while Beaulieu’s Dodge truck had $4,000 in damage.
The only reported injury was an abrasion on Dubois’ hand.
A Bangor man who works overnight on Harlow Street left after his Wednesday morning shift ended and noticed severe damage had been done to his vehicle.
Jonathan Sension, 32, told police he heard a “loud noise” while working, but didn’t think much of it until he left work and saw the damage done to his ’97 Toyota Corolla.
The hood of the car had been completely dented, the windshield was cracked, and the roof was caved in, a police report said.
Although there are no suspects at this time, police believe someone either ran over or rolled over the man’s car.
An estimated $4,000 in damage was done to the four-door sedan.
A Bangor man’s Somerset Street apartment reportedly was broken into Tuesday morning.
William Walker, 21, was not at home when he received a call just after 10 a.m. from his downstairs neighbor, who asked Walker whether he was expecting company at his apartment.
When Walker said he wasn’t, the neighbor told him that he had heard people walking around upstairs, a police report stated.
The neighbor checked the apartment and didn’t see anybody around, Walker told police.
When Walker arrived home around 4 p.m., he noticed that his front door, which he normally leaves unlocked, had been locked.
Everything looked in place upon first viewing, but Walker later noticed that $70 in cash was missing from his dresser, and 10 Xbox video games, valued at approximately $30 each, had been taken, the report said.
Police were unable to reach Walker’s neighbor, and no suspects were immediately identified.
