Toothaker leads SAHS by Bears

EASTON – Robert Toothaker’s goal 21 seconds into the second half lifted the Southern Aroostook Warriors to a 1-0 schoolboy soccer victory over the Easton Bears Friday.

Toothaker scored off a fast- break attack and pass from Tyler Robinson. Colby Clark made 12 saves on 20 shots for 3-1 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Jeremy Brock saved 23 of 38 shots for the 4-2 Bears.

Van Buren 6, Limestone 0

At Limestone, Alex Martin scored two goals to help lead Van Buren to the win.

Ben Doucette and Brandon Boulware each had a goal and an assist for 3-0-2 Van Buren. Robin Husting and Matt Parent both added a goal. Andrew Taylor stopped all five shots.

A.J. Rossignol and Matt Enman combined to make 21 saves on 35 shots for 2-3 Limestone.

Washburn 2, Cen. Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, Zack Bird scored the winning goal with 1:38 left on a penalty kick to push Washburn past Central Aroostook.

Bird scored Washburn’s first goal in the first half. Steve Pesut made 21 saves on 33 shots.

Manny Martinez scored with 38:12 left in the first half for Central Aroostook. Josh Faulkner stopped 21 of 33 shots.

Presque Isle 5, Fort Kent 0

At Presque Isle, Greg Whitaker scored two goals and assisted another to lead Presque Isle to the win.

Logan York scored a goal and had an assist for 2-0 Presque Isle. Nate Carter and Travis Brooker both added a goal as Adam Kingsbury stopped all six shots.

Sam Bouchard made 13 saves on 18 shots for 0-1-1 Fort Kent.

Girls soccer

Fort Fairfield 3, Wisdom 2

At Fort Fairfield, Sadie Ayoob scored her second unassisted goal of the game with 23:06 left, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving the Tigers the margin of victory.

Rosemary Williams scored the other goal for 4-0-1 Fort Fairfield off a Caitlyn Esancy assist. Lauren Beckwith made three saves on six shots.

Nicole St. Pierre scored both goals for 2-4 Wisdom of St. Agatha and Justine Tardif added an assist. Kayla Daigle made 19 saves on 28 shots.

Southern Aroostook 4, Easton 2

At Easton, Kaylea Collier and Audrey Charette each notched a goal and an assist to spark the Warriors to victory.

Brittany Charette and Kim Grant scored one goal each for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook behind Shana Martin, who made nine saves on 22 shots.

Kassie Lovely tallied both goals for Easton, one off an assist from Katrina Martin. Briana White made 18 saves on 24 shots.

Washburn 5, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Kristen Goupille led Washburn to victory with her two goals.

Morgan Berube, Heidi Bois, and Amy Reed all scored a goal for 4-1 Washburn. Alex Bird and Kate Montgomery both had an assist and Amber Palmer stopped two of three shots.

Latisha Neece made 13 saves on 28 shots for 0-6 Central Aroostook.

Madawaska 3, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Ashley D. Cyr scored two goals to power Madawaska past Houlton.

Jamie Nadeau scored a goal for 5-0 Madawaska and Sarah Nadeau had an assist. Liz Laplante stopped all seven shots.

Nicole Manton made nine saves on 12 shots for 0-3 Houlton.

JV: Madawaska 4-2

Van Buren 2, Limestone 2 (2OT)

At Limestone, Megan Lajoie tied the game with 29:56 left in the game for Van Buren.

Lajoie scored Van Buren’s first goal with 25:05 left in the first half. Lisa Levasseur made 14 saves on 19 shots.

Ellie Dunn gave Limestone the 2-1 lead with 20:29 left in the first half. Britany King scored with 28:12 left in the first half and Jennifer Bird assisted both goals. Melanie Allen stopped seven of 10 shots.
