EASTON – Bradley Trask and Nick Flewelling scored goals less than six minutes apart midway through the second half as the Easton Bears rallied to knock off Ashland 2-1 in boys soccer action Tuesday.
Ashland (1-2) had taken a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Isaac Ward with 31 seconds left in the first half.
Trask tied the game with 23:10 left in the match off an assist by Jared Flewelling. Nick Flewelling, Jared’s cousin, scored the game-winning goal unassisted for 5-2 Easton with 17:35 to play.
Easton goalie Jeremy Brock made 24 saves on 35 shots, while Ashland’s Lucas Belanger made 22 saves on 35 shots.
Van Buren 4, Washburn 1
At Van Buren, Ben Doucette scored two goals a minute apart in the first half, assisted by Jean Pierre Dumond and Branden Boulware, respectively, as the Crusaders prevailed.
Boulware added an unassisted goal, and Ruben Hastings had a goal assisted by David Levasseur. Andrew Taylor had four saves on four shots for 4-0-2 Van Buren.
Ethan Doody scored Washburn’s only goal, which was assisted by Alex MacIntosch. Stephen Pesut made 17 saves on 22 shots.
Girls soccer
Ashland 6, Easton 0
At Easton, Whitney Flint scored four goals to lead the Ashland Hornets past Easton.
Jackie Raymond and Angela Belskis each scored a goal for the Hornets. Ashley Nemer saved all seven shots she faced for a shutout.
Briana White made 10 saves on 17 shots for the 1-5 Bears.
Van Buren 2, Washburn 0
At Van Buren, Lindsay Lajoie scored on a breakaway with 6:33 left in the game, taking a pass from Taylor Parent and converting it into the eventual game-winner for the Crusaders.
Megan Lajoie secured the Crusaders’ first win with a goal off a penalty kick with 5:11 left in the game. Lisa Levasseur made three saves on six shots for 1-2-3 Van Buren.
Amber Palmer made four saves on six shots for 4-2 Washburn.
Presque Isle 7, Fort Kent 0
At Presque Isle, Katie Delong knocked in two goals to lead Presque Isle to the win.
Kaylan Smith notched a goal plus an assist for the 2-0 Wildcats. Sarah Gonfiroski, Angela Norsworthy, and Kayla LeGassie added a goal apiece. Molly Hammel and Allisen Donovan combined for four saves on five shots.
Kelsie Bouchard stopped all 22 shots she faced for the 2-2 Warriors.
