A young Romanian woman employed by a local inn was charged with theft recently after allegedly stealing items from the business. Irina Carpuci, 23, of Romania, who is in Maine on a student visa, will make her initial court appearance on Sept. 19 in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft. She is scheduled to return to her native country on Oct. 4. Until her arraignment, Carpuci is staying with a local family. Carpuci, who worked both as a housekeeper and waitress at the Victorian bed-and-breakfast, is alleged to have taken various personal items from the Greenville Inn, according to Greenville Police Chief Duane Alexander. The inn’s owners, Jeff and Terry Johanneman, told police that several items were missing, including brass candlesticks, personal clothing, toiletry items, crystal angels, leather shoes and picture frames, Alexander said. During an investigation, Alexander said he found some of the items in an apartment that Carpuci was sharing with another Romanian woman. The Johannemanns declined to comment.
