The parish of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 21 Holyoke St., last week celebrated its first Eucharist with its new rector, the Rev. Barbara J. Clarke. Clarke had most recently served as rector of St. Augustine’s Parish in Washington, D.C. An Ellsworth native, Clarke studied and later taught biology, earning a doctorate in the field from Tulane University in New Orleans. One of her former biology students at the University of Pittsburgh is the Episcopal bishop of Maine, the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen.
