The Pentecostal movement began in the Old Town community in 1930 – in a dance hall. By 1940, a building had been constructed, and in 1980, a new church was built. Over the years, the church has had three names and nine pastors. Now, Christ Church of Faith, 2274 Bennoch Road, is celebrating its 75th birthday, with a special series of services. The Rev. Dana Perkins will preach at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4; the Rev. Theresa Oliver will preach at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. All are invited to the 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, service with Pastor Wayne Hartt preaching, then at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, for a time of reflection on the past 75 years with a supper to follow. The Revs. Jerry and Gail Rozell, missionaries in Africa, will preach at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.
