MOUNT DESERT – Whitney Sinclair scored three goals to lead the John Bapst Crusaders to a 4-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Mount Desert Island Trojans Friday in the mutual opener.

Hayley Cutri scored a goal for John Bapst of Bangor and Caroline Cassling stopped five of 13 shots. Katy Klaver scored a second-half goal for the Trojans and Christina McKay made 17 saves on 22 shots.

JV: John Bapst 1-0

Orono 5, Penquis 1

At Orono, Lindsey Colbath scored three goals to lead the Red Riots to the win.

Kate Kirby scored a goal and assisted another for 1-0 Orono. Lauren Young added a goal and Michelle George had an assist. Heather Woodbrey and Brittney Pinkham combined to make four saves on six shots.

Kristen Burch scored a second-half goal on a Erica Lyford assist for 0-1 Penquis of Milo. Johannah Kutz stopped 11 of 19 shots.

Greenville 5, Shead 0

At Eastport, Hannah Breton scored three goals to lead Greenville to the win.

Kahla Lander scored two goals for 1-0 Greenville. Tasha Elsemore had two assists and Brittney Bouchor had an assist. Bethany Bartley and Breton combined to stop all six shots. Dorothy Pottle made 14 saves on 20 shots for 0-1 Shead.

George Stevens 4, Central 0

At Blue Hill, Winslow Brokaw scored a goal and assisted another to help lead George Stevens Academy to the win.

Kayla Eaton made four saves on five shots for GSA and Jessica Daniel stopped 30 of 34 shots for Central.

Messalonskee 2, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Alexandria Smith scored on a Kaitlin Watson assist with 10:40 left in the first half to lead Messalonskee.

Katie O’Leary made four saves on eight shots for Messalonskee and Nicole Guay stopped eight of 16 shots for Old Town.

JV: Messalonskee 3-2

Penobscot Val. 4, Piscataquis 2

At Guilford, Molly Thompson scored two goals to help lift Penobscot Valley of Howland past Piscataquis. Kasey Plourde and Ashley Dawson both scored a goal for 1-0 Penobscot Valley. Jennifer Plourde made seven saves on nine shots.

Jessica Crouse and Christine Davis each scored a goal for 0-1 Piscataquis and Jackie Crouse made an assist. Jill Martell stopped 16 of 20 shots.

Foxcroft Acad. 2, Hermon 1

At Hermon, Leslie Martin scored to goals to spark Foxcroft Academy to the win.

Kelsey Hill and Lauren Kousaie each had an assist for 1-0 Foxcroft. Brittany Sadley stopped eight of nine shots.

Cassie White scored with 25 minutes left for 0-1 Hermon. Ashley Kelley made 18 saves on 20 shots.

Hampden 6, Skowhegan 4

At Skowhegan, Searsport transfer Nori Francis-Mezger scored five goals in her Bronco debut, including the game-winner that broke a 4-4 tie with 24 minutes left and an insurance goal 20 minutes later.

Isabel Cravens had a goal and an assist for the Broncos with Annaliese Lafayette contributing two assists and Mikki Libbey, Jenna Shue and Lauren Maltz adding one apiece. Michelle Wells had five saves on 14 shots.

Kristi Poland had two goals for Skowhegan. Danielle Goff and Nicole Paradis had goal and an assist each and Brittany Gould made 16 saves on 34 shots.

JV: Hampden 10-0

Lee 7, Schenck 0

At Lee, Aarika Ritchie tallied three goals and two assists as the Pandas rolled.

Karin Bird notched a goal plus an assist while Jody Worcester, Amy Long and Kerri Harris added a goal apiece and Dana Houghton an assist. Jackie Moors and Liz Reed combined for four saves on five shots. Robin Larlee stopped 13 out of 28 shots for Schenck of East Millinocket.

Boys Soccer

MCI 2, Medomak Valley 1 (OT)

At Waldoboro, Dustin Varney took a through ball from Brandon Glencross, beat a defender and slipped the ball past goalie Robert Glaue 25 seconds into overtime to give Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield its victory in the mutual opener.

Tristan Goewey made six saves on 10 shots for the winners while Glaue stopped 12 of 20 shots.

John Bapst 2, MDI 0

At the BMHI field in Bangor, Ian Bamford and Jordan Myers each scored a first-half goal to lead the Crusaders by the Mount Desert Island Trojans.

Patrick Kane and Dillon Connolle each added an assist for the 1-0 winners and Chris Smith made 12 saves on 12 shots. Max Blanford made 17 saves on 19 shots for 0-1 MDI.

JV: John Bapst 2-0

Greenville 5, Shead 1

At Greenville, Durgin McKusick scored three goals to lead Greenville past Shead.

Kyle Whitman added two goals and one assist for 1-0 Greenville. Joe Jardine had two assists and Corey Woodbury had an assist. Brandon Lavigne stopped six of seven shots.

Craig Hastings made seven saves on 22 shots for 0-1 Shead.

Waterville 2, Brewer 1

At Brewer, Jack L’Heureux and John Jaber each scored for the Purple Panthers in the win.

Tory Quinn had six saves on seven shots for 1-0 Waterville.

Andrew Richardson scored unassisted for 0-1 Brewer. Mike Kotredes stopped six out of 14 shots.

JV: Waterville 4-0

Piscataquis 3, Penobscot Val. 2

At Howland, Jarrod Robinson scored an unassisted goal with 20 minutes left in the second half give Piscataquis the narrow win.

Mike Wharff and Roy Burdin both scored a first-half goal for 1-0 Piscataquis of Guilford. Ryan Martell made 15 saves on 18 shots.

Ryan Ware and Cory Soucy each scored a first-half goal for Penobscot Valley. Brian Harris stopped 13 of 17 shots.

Mt. Blue 3, Nokomis 0

At Farmington, Devin Fereirra scored on a Greg Allen assist in the first half to lift Mt. Blue past Nokomis of Newport.

Dan Hayden and Alex Prentiss both scored a goal for 1-0 Mt. Blue and Justin Davis made five saves on seven shots. Wayne May stopped 16 of 25 shots for 0-1 Nokomis

JV: Nokomis 2-1

Hermon 3, Foxcroft 1

At Hermon, Ryan Tarr broke a 1-1 tie with 13:15 remaining and added an insurance goal with 1:25 left as the Hawks rallied to post a successful debut under their new lights.

Joey Carmichael had scored earlier in the second half to tie it. Victor Codina scored a first-half goal for Foxcroft off a Don Shin assist.
