I am responding to the latest editorial (BDN, Aug. 22) and letter to the editor (Aug. 31) about the price of textbooks. I am a postgraduate student at the University of Maine at Augusta and am astounded by the price of textbooks compared to the ’90s when I received my bachelor’s degree from UMaine.
Students not only have to suffer the increases in tuition and fees, but also the rise in price for books. Well, this is a secret to all those students out there. Get your textbooks on half.com, a part of eBay, and very cheap.
I bought two books for the fall semester and spent $28; in the bookstore they would have been close to $100. It is foolish for anyone to pay full price for a textbook anymore.
The books are in great shape and you can also sell your books after you are done with them.
