BOSTON – Brittany Saisselin scored a goal and assisted on another Sunday afternoon to lead the University of Maine to a 3-0 women’s soccer victory over Central Connecticut State University.

Linda Consolante and former Lee Academy standout Shelby Pickering each scored a goal for 2-2 Maine. Jasmine Phillips made two saves on nine shots.

Erin Herd and Ashley Ferra combined to make two saves on 10 shots for 3-1 Central Connecticut State.

Gordon 1, Southern Maine 0

At Gorham on Saturday, Chrissy MacArthur scored an unassisted goal at 51:16 to give Gordon College the win.

Mindy Morneault stopped two of 10 shots for 1-1 University of Southern Maine.

Wheaton 2, Husson 0

At Bangor, Ashley Furr and Jenna Rabesa scored goals to lead Wheaton College to victory on Saturday.

Stacy Kronchburg stopped both shots for 2-0 Wheaton.

Tatyana Wolterbeek recorded 17 saves on 29 shots for 0-1 Husson College.

Maine Maritime drops two

At Castine, Maine Maritime Academy failed to score a goal in two games in the Maine Maritime Invitational Tournament.

Saint Joseph College of Connecticut defeated the Mariners 3-0 on Saturday and Ramapo College won 1-0 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s Game, Jess Gildes scored two goals for 1-0 Saint Joseph and Jasmine Tinker added a goal. Sarah McInnis made six saves on eight shots.

Meghan Marshall stopped five of 12 shots for MMA.

In Sunday’s Game, Jessica Giordano scored at 18:00 with an assist by Amy Ketchersid for 1-1 Ramapo College of New Jersey. Samantha Gribben stopped one of three shots.

Marshall made four saves on 16 shots for the 0-2 Mariners.

Bengal Kick-Off Classic

At Fort Kent, Ryan Scott scored the winning goal three minutes into overtime Saturday to lead the University of Maine-Presque Isle to a 2-1 win over UMaine-Machias 2-1 in UM-Fort Kent’s Bengal Kick-Off Classic.

UMFK and Thomas College of Waterville played to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes IN Saturday’s other game.

On Sunday, UM-Machias defeated Thomas 2-1 and UM-Presque Isle beat UM-Fort Kent 2-1 in overtime.

In Saturday’s first game, Sebastian Itman tied the game in the 71st minute for UMPI. Scott Clency stopped two of four shots.

Galen Light scored in the 35th minute for UM-Machias. Zachariah Sheller made two saves on six shots.

In Saturday’s second game, Gary Zeigler scored an unassisted goal with under two minutes remaining to tie the game and earn the tie for Thomas College. Ryan Conrad made four saves on five shots.

Donatas Sumyla scored on an indirect kick with eight minutes left in the first half for UMFK. Nick Thibodeau stopped four of five shots.

In Sunday’s first game, Light scored in the 59th minute to give 1-1 UM-Machias the win over Thomas.

Davy Akoa scored the Clippers’ first goal in the 37th minute to tie the game and Chris Correll had two assists. Zachariah Sheller stopped six of nine shots.

Craig Zeigler scored in the third minute for 0-1-1 Thomas. Ryan Conrad made eight saves on 15 shots.

In Sunday’s second game, Jared Dyar scored in the third minute of overtime to lead 2-0 UM-Presque Isle to victory.

Travis Parent tied the game for the Owls in the 90th minute and Jared Griffith had two assists. Scott Clency had five saves on 15 shots.

Noe Aparicio scored for 0-1-1 UM-Fort Kent and Nicholas Thibodeau stopped seven of 17 shots.

Alabama-Birmingham 3, Maine 1

At Kingston, R.I., Jason McLaughlin scored a goal and had an assist to lead the University of Alabama-Birmingham past the University of Maine in the URI Tournament on Sunday.

Kevin Forgett scored on a Jimmy Velas assist at 9:18 for the 0-2 Black Bears. Ben Piotrowski stopped five of 17 shots.

Midfielder Cooper Friend was named to the All-Tournament Team.

W. New England 7, Husson 2

At Keene, N.H., Dan Lawrence scored two goals to lead Western New England College past Husson College in the Diadora-Dunkin’ Donuts Soccer Showdown on Sunday.

Natapong Kangsunja scored a goal and had an assist for 0-2 Husson of Bangor. Pat St. Hilaire also had a goal and Chris Jackson and Dana Bellemare combined to make seven saves.

Keene State 4, Husson 0

At Keene, N.H., Eric Scott and Caleb Patterson scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Keene State College to the win over Husson College in the Diadora-Dunkin’ Donuts Soccer Showdown on Saturday.

Chris Jackson stopped four of 24 shots for 0-1 Husson of Bangor.

Rensselaer 3, Southern Maine 0

At Troy, N.Y., Craig DiDomenico, Sal Mangano, and Max Molleo each scored a goal to lead Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Albany, N.Y., to victory on Sunday.

Chris Willard made 11 saves on 22 shots for 1-1 University of Southern Maine of Gorham.

Southern Maine 1, Union 0

At Troy, N.Y., Adam Bial scored with 6:50 left in the first half to push the University of Southern Maine to the win on Saturday.

Chris Willard stopped all six shots for the 1-0 Huskies of Gorham.

Rob Kramer made two saves for 0-1 Union College.

At Hempstead, N.Y., Meagan Connolly scored Maine’s second goal Sunday on a Joanna Fernandez assist at 47:14 to help lead the Black Bears to victory.

Kasey Spencer scored 3-1 Maine’s first goal on a Connolly assist. Maygan Cassarino made one save and faced five shots.

Megan Davidson scored on a Ramie Merrill assist for 1-1 Columbia. Kristina George made three saves on six shots.

Hofstra 3, Maine 1

At Hempstead, N.Y., Charlia Warner scored two goals to help push Hofstra University past the University of Maine on Saturday.

Pemba Ramdoo scored a second-half goal for 3-0 Hofstra. Jessica Cowperthwait made two saves on four shots.

Kasey Spencer scored on a Kim MacDonald assist at 31:58 for the 2-2 Black Bears. Rebecca Giroux and Maygan Cassarino combined to made eight saves on 17 shots.

At Wellesley, Mass., Elisa Coney scored two goals Saturday to lead Babson College to the win.

Gina Giardina added a goal for 1-1 Babson. Elissa Slovin stopped the only shot she faced.

At Farmington on Saturday, Megan Benevides scored an unassisted goal at 58:44 to give Gordon College the win.

Chyanne Wilson made 12 saves on 19 shots for 1-0 Gordon of Wenham, Mass.

Rachel Sheloske stopped three of 10 shots for 0-1 University of Maine-Farmington.

Plymouth State 2, Thomas 1

At Plymouth, N.H., Katie Kovacs scored the game-winning goal on a Christina Farias assist with 8:36 left in the game to lead Plymouth State to victory on Saturday.

Molly Tibbetts scored on a Ashley Gibson assist in the first half for 0-1 Thomas College of Waterville. Jen Lane stopped 12 of 29 shots.

Volleyball

Boston College 3, Maine 0

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Dorota Niemczewska had 19 kills and 11 digs to help lead Boston College past the University of Maine on Saturday, 31-29, 31-29, 30-28.

Jody Connacher had 27 digs for the Black Bears and Shelley Seipp had 37 set assists. Shannan Fotter had 11 kills and Kaili Jordan added 11 digs.
