Maine Maritime drops two
At Castine, Maine Maritime Academy failed to score a goal in two games in the Maine Maritime Invitational Tournament.
Saint Joseph College of Connecticut defeated the Mariners 3-0 on Saturday and Ramapo College won 1-0 on Sunday.
In Saturday’s Game, Jess Gildes scored two goals for 1-0 Saint Joseph and Jasmine Tinker added a goal. Sarah McInnis made six saves on eight shots.
Meghan Marshall stopped five of 12 shots for MMA.
In Sunday’s Game, Jessica Giordano scored at 18:00 with an assist by Amy Ketchersid for 1-1 Ramapo College of New Jersey. Samantha Gribben stopped one of three shots.
Marshall made four saves on 16 shots for the 0-2 Mariners.

Bengal Kick-Off Classic
At Fort Kent, Ryan Scott scored the winning goal three minutes into overtime Saturday to lead the University of Maine-Presque Isle to a 2-1 win over UMaine-Machias 2-1 in UM-Fort Kent’s Bengal Kick-Off Classic.
UMFK and Thomas College of Waterville played to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes IN Saturday’s other game.
On Sunday, UM-Machias defeated Thomas 2-1 and UM-Presque Isle beat UM-Fort Kent 2-1 in overtime.
In Saturday’s first game, Sebastian Itman tied the game in the 71st minute for UMPI. Scott Clency stopped two of four shots.
Galen Light scored in the 35th minute for UM-Machias. Zachariah Sheller made two saves on six shots.
In Saturday’s second game, Gary Zeigler scored an unassisted goal with under two minutes remaining to tie the game and earn the tie for Thomas College. Ryan Conrad made four saves on five shots.
Donatas Sumyla scored on an indirect kick with eight minutes left in the first half for UMFK. Nick Thibodeau stopped four of five shots.
In Sunday’s first game, Light scored in the 59th minute to give 1-1 UM-Machias the win over Thomas.

At Kingston, R.I., Jason McLaughlin scored a goal and had an assist to lead the University of Alabama-Birmingham past the University of Maine in the URI Tournament on Sunday.
Kevin Forgett scored on a Jimmy Velas assist at 9:18 for the 0-2 Black Bears. Ben Piotrowski stopped five of 17 shots.
Midfielder Cooper Friend was named to the All-Tournament Team.

At Keene, N.H., Dan Lawrence scored two goals to lead Western New England College past Husson College in the Diadora-Dunkin’ Donuts Soccer Showdown on Sunday.
Natapong Kangsunja scored a goal and had an assist for 0-2 Husson of Bangor. Pat St. Hilaire also had a goal and Chris Jackson and Dana Bellemare combined to make seven saves.

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Dorota Niemczewska had 19 kills and 11 digs to help lead Boston College past the University of Maine on Saturday, 31-29, 31-29, 30-28.
Jody Connacher had 27 digs for the Black Bears and Shelley Seipp had 37 set assists. Shannan Fotter had 11 kills and Kaili Jordan added 11 digs.
