BANGOR – Kliton Xhamali tallied a pair of goals to lead the Husson Eagles to a 5-2 win over the Clippers of UMaine-Machias in men’s soccer action Wednesday.
Chris Caoela notched a goal plus an assist for 1-2 Husson while Oscar Ody and Shane Coffin added a goal each. Chris Jackson had eight saves on 13 shots.
Andrew Hayes and Michael Zeidler scored for the 1-2 Clippers. Brett Howarth added an assist. Patrick Morgan stopped 14 of 27 shots.
Northeastern 2, Maine 0
At Brookline, Mass., Brian Ainscough tallied and an assist to lead the Huskies to the win.
Greg Kilkenny added a goal for 1-1-1 Northeastern while Sergio Saccoccio had three saves on 11 shots.
Chad Mongeon made eight saves on 23 shots for 0-3 Maine.
Field hockey
UNE 2, Saint Joseph’s 1
At Standish, goals by Jillian Croteau and Lisa Baillargeon lifted the University of New England to victory.
Sarah Goudreau of Dexter assisted on Baillargeon’s goal, which gave the Nor’Easters a 2-0 lead midway through the second half.
Monique Crawford scored the goal for Saint Joseph’s.
Krystal Wysocik made five saves for UNE, while Ellen Gagne made seven stops for Saint Joseph’s.
Women’s Soccer
So. Maine 2, UNE 1 (OT)
At Gorham, junior forward Julia Cyr scored six minutes into overtime to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to victory over the University of New England
Liz Brunton of Birch Harbor crossed the ball to Cyr off a throw-in from the left side. Dianna Thibaudeau scored off a Cyr assist 14 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Mindy Morneault made two saves on four shots.
Melissa Levasseur scored to tie it off an Amanda Smith assist with just under four minutes left in regulation. Mallory Wilson made five saves on 12 shots for the 0-1 UNE Knights.
Saint Joseph’s 8, Thomas 0
At Standish, Katie Jordan scored four goals and Megan Willette of Waterville had three to lead the Saint Joseph’s College Monks past Thomas College of Waterville.
Morgan Meserve made three saves for the 1-0 Monks. Shannon Proctor registered four saves for the 0-1 Terriers.
