A Hermon teenager faces multiple charges, including aggravated forgery, for a Sept. 8 incident during which he was stopped for a traffic violation and twice signed someone else’s name on police summonses.

Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Adams stopped a car Thursday on Billings Road for an expired inspection sticker. The operator had no identification or proof of insurance but gave Adams a name and date of birth.

Adams wrote summonses for failing to provide insurance and for driving an uninspected vehicle and watched as the driver signed them.

Two days later, on Saturday, Sept. 10, Adams received a call from a young man who claimed that a former friend might have used his name. The driver from Sept. 8 apparently had been bragging to friends about the incident and word got around, Adams said.

The deputy investigated and found out that the driver’s actual name was Willie Dunton, 19, who was on probation for an operating after suspension conviction in July.

Adams tracked the suspect to an apartment in Bangor where he was staying with his 16-year-old girlfriend. Dunton was arrested and charged with violating bail conditions, operating after revocation, failure to give correct name to an officer and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

He also was charged with two counts of aggravated forgery, a Class B felony, for signing summonses with someone else’s name.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warrant for a man believed to have been involved in an accident Saturday in Hermon after which he fled the scene.

Deputy Michael Adams went to Fuller Road at about 7:30 p.m. after a passer-by called in the accident. The car was off the road in a ditch and had minor damage, and Adams found alcohol inside.

The driver had left but several items in the vehicle, including a checkbook and cell phone, identified the probable driver as Randy Michaud, 46, of Hampden, Adams said.

The vehicle was registered to an Orrington woman who admitted she was Michaud’s girlfriend. When the deputy spoke with the woman, she said she hadn’t seen Michaud.

A warrant was issued for Michaud, who is wanted for operating after suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.
