Owls knock off Vikings to keep win streak going

CARIBOU – Ashley D. Cyr scored two goals while Ashley A. Cyr dished out an assist as the Madawaska Owls remained unbeaten via a 4-1 victory over the Caribou Vikings in schoolgirl soccer action Tuesday.

Beth Gerard notched a goal plus an assist and Sarah Nadeau added a goal for 8-0 Madawaska. Liz LaPlante had four saves on seven shots.

Shelby Cousins scored unassisted for the 2-4 Vikings. Billie Martin stopped eight out of 18 shots.

Presque Isle 5, Fort Kent 0

At Fort Kent, Angela Norsworthy and Kylan Smith each knocked in two goals as the Wildcats remained unbeaten.

Katie Delong added a goal of her own for 5-0 Presque Isle. Molly Hamel turned back all seven shots she saw.

Chelsea Bouchard recorded 22 saves on 27 shots for the 5-3 Warriors.

JV: Presque Isle 4-1

Easton 5, East Grand 0

At Easton, Kassie Lovely scored a goal an assisted on two others as the Bears roared past the Vikings of Danforth.

Lindsay White tallied twice for Easton, and Kilynne Beaulieu and Kendra Conroy added one each.

Denise Clark made three saves on three shots in the first half for the Bears, and Briana White didn’t face a shot in the second half.

Jodie Crone made 13 saves on 27 shots for East Grand.

Hodgdon 2, CAHS 1 (OT)

At Hodgdon, Brianne McGary scored the winning goal 40 seconds into the first overtime.

Sarah Ryan scored with 2:00 remaining to tie the game. Heather London saved five of seven shots for 5-5 Hodgdon.

Miranda Levesque scored for 0-10 Central Aroostook of Mars Hill with an assist from Amber Bradley. Latisha Neece had 24 saves on 31 shots.

Monmouth 2, Madison 0

At Monmouth, Cortney Barrett made five saves on six Madison shots to earn the shutout for the Mustangs.

Britney Hilton and Katie Woodman tallied a goal apiece for 1-1-2 Monmouth.

Ashley Marandola stopped nine out of 17 shots for the 1-3 Bulldogs.

Boys soccer

Easton 2, East Grand 1 (OT)

At Easton, Jared Flewelling scored unassisted 3:01 into overtime as the Bears nipped the Vikings.

Flewelling also scored the first goal for 10-4 Easton, with an assist from Bradley Trask. Jeremy Brock made 17 saves on 24 shots.

Lucas Gillis tallied unassisted for 0-3 East Grand of Danforth, and Ricky Parkes made 24 saves on 36 shots.

Cen. Aroostook 9, Hodgdon 0

At Hodgdon, Travis McDonald racked up three goals and two assists as the Panthers of Mars Hill clawed the Hawks.

Manny Martinez recorded three goals while brother Erik Martinez scored two for 5-3 Central Aroostook. Sam Clockedile added a goal. Ryan Kilcollins made 11 saves on 26 shots.

Alex Harris stopped 18 out of 35 shots for 0-10 Hodgdon.

Fort Fairfield 2, Limestone 0

At Fort Fairfield, Beau Everett and Andrew Foresman tallied a goal apiece as the Tigers prevailed.

Brendan McLaughlin assisted on both goals for 6-2 Fort Fairfield. Billy Scull stopped all six shots he faced.

A.J. Rossignol had eight saves on 14 shots for the 4-5 Eagles.

Messalonskee 4, Brewer 2

At Brewer, Cameron Omsberg and Matt Dawes netted two goals apiece as the Eagles of Oakland triumphed.

Kyle Joseph made two saves against five shots for 2-2 Messalonskee.

Andrew Richardson scored both goals for 0-4 Brewer, with Corey Bragg and Reid McLaughlin getting assists. Mike Kotredes and Chris Brady combined for two saves on six shots.

JV: Brewer 2-1

Ellsworth 1, MDI 1 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, Ben Young scored unassisted midway through the second half for the Trojans and neither team scored the rest of the way.

Max Blanford made 12 saves on 16 shots for MDI, now 1-2-1.

Demetrios Katsiaficas notched an unassisted goal for the 1-0-2 Eagles. Cory Smith had three saves on five shots.

Bangor Christian 7, DI-S 1

At Bangor, Ignacio Bostos scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Patriots by the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners.

Brock Bradford chipped in with two goals for the 3-0 Pats while Justin Phinney, Shane Murphy and Josh Griffin had one apiece. Dan Dorman notched an assist and Josh Frost made nine saves on 10 shots.

For 1-2 DI-S, Miles Douglas scored a goal and Rob Brown and Eben Powers combined for 15 saves on 24 shots.

Calvary 10, Highview Chr. 0

At the Taft Street field in Bangor, Rosaire Veilliux popped in two goals and added three assists to pace the Sabers.

Eric Kreitz contributed two goals, Luke Thomas and Jacob Thomas had a goal and an assist each, and Beau Miller, Nate Colby, Joe Abou-Joade, and Tim Arbo posted a goal apiece for 2-1 Calvary Chapel Christian School of Orrington.

Arbo started in goal and made one save on one shot, and John Pomelow made four saves on four shots.

Goalkeepers Stefan Rowe and Andrew Richards combined to make 15 saves on 25 shots for 0-1-1 Highview Christian of Charleston.

Field hockey

Rockland 2, MCI 1 (2 OT)

At Pittsfield, Caitlyn Hynes led her team to victory with the winning goal, unassisted, in the second overtime.

Dana Clark scored the first goal, with an assist from Amanda Burns, in the first half. Caley Bacan had 13 saves for 1-3 Rockland.

MCI’s Ellen Wagner scored the equalizer with 6:26 left in the second half. Courtney Howe stopped 13 shots for the 1-3 Huskies.

Central 3, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Traci Underhill registered one goal and two assists to lead the Red Devils to the win.

Rachel Trafton and Beth Dauphinee added a goal each for 4-1 Central of Corinth. Kara Voisine stopped all nine shots she faced.

Jackie Flie recorded 10 saves on 13 shots for the 0-4 Warriors.

Belfast 4, Mount View 0

At Thorndike, Britt Cummings knocked in two goals while Kallie Aldus contributed a goal plus an assist as the Lions rolled.

Brooke Reed added a goal while Kelsey Jackson and Skye Ellis added assists for 4-0 Belfast. Liz Anderson stopped all four shots she faced.

Carrie Beveridge stopped nine out of 13 shots for the 2-2 Mustangs.

JV: Belfast 2-0

Dexter 3, Bangor 1

At Dexter, Nicci Burton, Vanessa Hartford, and Ashley Wakefield each had an unassisted goal for the Tigers in the win.

Katie Porrier made one save on two shots for Dexter.

Erin Johnson scored unassisted for Bangor. Sarah Frisk stopped 11 out of 20 shots.

JV: Dexter 3-0
