FARMINGTON – Libby Cox and Laura Williams scored second-half goals, both assisted by Maggie Herlihy, to lift the Colby White Mules of Waterville to a 3-1 women’s college soccer win over UMaine-Farmington Wednesday.
Williams added a goal in the first half to put the Mules up 1-0. Colby is now 1-1 on the season. Liza Benson had one save on two shots.
Lisa Shore scored the 2-0 Beavers. Melissa DeMerchant stopped nine out of 13 shots.
USM 6, Framingham State 2
At Gorham, Liz Brunton and Caitlin Brown each scored a pair of goals to lead the Huskies.
Eva Hanson and Danica Martin also notched a goal for 4-2 USM. Mindy Morneault stopped two of eight shots.
For 0-3 Framingham State, Jill Jenkinson and Holly Boudreau recorded goals. Ashley Baker made eight saves on 27 shots for the Rams.
UM-Machias 4, Unity 3
At Unity, Erin O’Callohen scored all four of the Clippers’ goals in the win.
Jessie Kuester made 16 saves on 19 shots for 1-2 UMaine-Machias.
Meg Sine, Sarah Woodman and Lisa Bates notched a goal apiece for 0-2 Unity. Annie Carter blocked four out of eight shots.
Men’s Soccer
Bowdoin 5, R.I. College 2
Andrew Russo and Simon Parsons each had a goal and an assist to lead the Polar Bears to win.
Anthony Regis and Kevin Mullins added a goal each for 2-0 Bowdoin. Nathan Lovitz had two saves.
Kyle Teixeira scored both goals with Tyrell Burgess getting both assists for 1-3 Rhode Island College. Jadon Neves and Dan Rodrigues combined for 11 saves.
Colby 5, Husson 2
At Waterville, Bobby Abendroth had two goals to lift the Mules to its first win of the season.
Logan King notched his first collegiate goal and added an assist for Colby. Dan Kiernan and John McCormack also added goals.
After a 5-0 lead just four minutes into the second half, Husson responded with goals from Kyle James and Chris Cacela.
Chris Jackson played keeper for the 3-3 Braves, saving two of 10 shots.
Josh Kahane made three saves on six shots.
Field Hockey
Bowdoin 8, Husson 0
At Bangor, the Polar Bears of Brunswick scored three goals in a 12-minute span in the first half to put the Eagles away early.
Lindsey McNamara and Tamlyn Frederick tallied three goals apiece for 3-0 Bowdoin. Allyson Craib had a goal and an assist while Hillary Hoffman added a goal. Emileigh Mercer stopped the only shot she faced in the second half while Kate Leonard didn’t have to make a save in the first.
Kelly Bocchino had 14 saves on 25 shots for Husson, now 1-2.
