Moran goal lifts Eagles to victory

BUCKSPORT – Danny Moran’s unassisted goal off a direct kick 16 yards in front of the goal into the upper right corner of the net with 5:32 to play gave George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill a 2-1 schoolboy soccer win over Bucksport Wednesday.

For the 3-1-1 Eagles, Ryan Kurtz scored on a Seth Brayton assist. Collin Henry saved nine of 12 shots.

Alex Pappas scored unassisted for the 0-4 Golden Bucks and Miles Bisher made 23 saves on 34 shots.

JV: GSA 4-1

Woodland 5, Calais 0

At Calais, Brandon Tomah notched a hat trick in the second half to help the 3-0 Dragons cruise to a win.

Jeremy Burke also had two second-half goals to power Woodland. Craig Moody saved six shots on nine attempts.

Scott Geel stopped six balls on 10 shots for the 3-1 Blue Devils.

Monmouth 2, Carrabec 1

At North Anson, Patrick Trenholm and Devin Bobbins scored unassisted goals 17 minutes apart in the first half to lift the Mustangs to victory.

Scott Ogden made eight saves on nine shots for Monmouth.

Sam Shaw netted an unassisted goal in the first half for Carrabec. Danny Estes blocked two out of four shots.

Presque Isle 5, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Nate Carter knocked in three goals as the Wildcats tallied their sixth win.

Travis Brooker and Greg Whitaker added a goal apiece for 6-0 Presque Isle. Adam Kingsbury stopped both shots he faced.

Eben Thompson had 16 saves on 21 shots for the 1-6-1 Shiretowners.

Girls soccer

Narraguagus 3, Calais 0

At Harrington, Haley Torrey collected two goals and one assists as the Knights blanked the Blue Devils.

Katie Sirone added a goal and Megan Nevells an assist for Narraguagus. Samantha Baker made 13 saves on 13 shots.

Steph Pierre stopped 14 out of 17 shots for Calais.

Bangor Chr. 4, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Mariah Buck recorded 21 saves on 27 shots to earn the shutout for the Patriots.

Amber Leathers and Kristen Pelletier each had two goals and one assist for Bangor Christian, now 2-1.

Anika Powers had 24 saves on 32 shots for the 0-3 Mariners.

Piscataquis 2, Penquis 1 (OT)

At Guilford, Jessica Crouse scored the second of her two goals with 1:30 left in the first overtime, off a pass from Jade Morrill to give the Pirates the win.

Crouse converted a penalty kick in the second half to tie the game for 1-3 Piscataquis. Jill Martell had 13 saves on 14 shots.

Kristen Burch tallied a goal for the 0-4 Patriots of Milo Johannah Kutz stopped 13 out of 15 shots.

Central 1, Dexter 0

At Central, Molly Chretien scored the only goal early in the first half to help the Red Devils improve its record to 2-2.

Jessica Daniel stopped all eleven balls shot her way.

Ashley Richardson made nine stops on 12 shots for Dexter.

Greenville 3, Richmond 1

At Greenville, Hannah Breton scored all three of the Lakers’ goals to hand Richmond its first loss of the season.

Breton scored her first goal off a header from a Alisha Gilbert direct kick to make the score 1-0 at halftime. Breton added two more goals after the Bobcats tied the game. Beth Bartley made nine saves on 11 shots for Greenville.

Richmond’s Shelby Harley tied the game in the second period off a Melanie Schnack assist. Celia Carlton stopped six of nine shots for the 3-1 Bobcats.

John Bapst 8, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Whitney Sinclair tallied three goals as the Crusaders rolled to the win.

Hayley Cutri provided two goals for John Bapst of Bangor while Taylor Greenlaw, Katherine Lammert and Ashley Sanford added one apiece. Caroline Cassing had six saves against nine shots.

Ashley Kelly made 18 saves on 32 shots for the Hawks.

JV: John Bapst 5-0

So. Aroostook 3, Woodland 1

At Woodland, Audrey Charette and Kaylee Collier each had first-half goals and added an assist to help the Warriors move to 5-1.

Brittany Charette added the other goal at the end of the second half. Shana Martin saved five of 15 shots on goal for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Heidi Sappier netted an unassisted score with two minutes remaining in the game and Cindy Bergin made four stops on 13 attempts for the 1-3 Dragons.

Lee 4, Penobscot Valley 1

At Lee, Aarika Ritchie knocked in three goals as the Pandas rolled.

Kimmy Thurlow notched a goal plus an assist for Lee. Jackie Moors had two saves on three shots.

Michelle Powers scored for the Howlers of Howland and Jen Plourde stopped 15 out of 23 shots.

Washburn 3, Wisdom 1

At Washburn, Alex Bird tallied two goals while Jessica Durost chalked up a goal plus an assist for the Beavers in the win.

Erica McDougall and Kristen Goupille added assists for 7-3-1 Washburn. Amber Palmer had four saves on six shots.

Justine Tardiff scored off a pass from Sylvia Labrie for 3-8 Wisdom of St. Agatha. Kayla Daigle stopped eight out of 16 shots.

Presque Isle 15, Houlton 0

At Houlton, ten different Wildcats notched goals to help cruise past the Shiretowners.

Sarah Porter netted four goals, while Sarah Gonsioroski and Carmen Allen each added two. Molly Hamel saved all five shots for 7-0 Presque Isle.

Nicole Manton and Bethany Targonski combined for 13 saves on 27 shots for Houlton, who falls to 3-7.

Field Hockey

John Bapst 2, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Marci Scofield notched a goal and an assist to overcome a 0-0 halftime score for the Crusaders.

Meagan Lincoln added the other second half goal from a Meagan Tilton pass.

Hillary Laferriere saved all three shots for 3-1 Bapst.

Zora Merrill stopped nine of 19 balls for Brewer, now 0-4.

JV: Brewer 1-0
