Winterport teenager selected for pageant

WINTERPORT – Megan Harnish, 16, of Winterport, daughter of Deborah Harnish and the late Michael Harnish Sr., has been selected to participate in the 2006 Miss Maine Teen USA Pageant.

Harnish, a junior at Hampden Academy, plans to attend the United Technology Cener in Bangor to work on becoming certified as a nurse’s aide. A part-time employee at Graves Supermarket, Megan participates in school activities such as running, cheering and singing.

Harnish is sponsored by Winterport Discount Mattress and Furniture, Winterport Winery, DM and J Enterprise Inc., Hampden Irving Mainway, MDHardy Inc., Winterport House of Pizza, Gilpatrick Funeral Home, Arpels Tanning and Hair Studio, Molly’s, Mary and Steve Clisham, and many friends and relatives.

The pageant will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26-27, at the Sheraton Tara Hotel in South Portland. The preliminary competition is at 8 p.m. Saturday and the final competition is 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets will be available at the door.
