People buying gasoline in the greater Bangor area got a bit of a break Friday when prices dropped to $2.69 a gallon at many stations. Irving, Exxon, Gulf, Exxon and Kev-Lan outlets, for example, were all selling for that price. Others were selling for $2.74 and $2.79. One station in Hermon was still selling above $3, at $3.04. Prices also were falling in some other area towns to the $2.69 level. Some dealers say they expect prices to fall to between $2.25 and $2.50 soon and then spike again next spring.
