AUGUSTA – A man who pleaded guilty to armed robberies of narcotics at pharmacies in Fairfield and Pittsfield last year has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, prosecutors said.

Shawn Kivlin, 29, formerly of Unity, was sentenced Thursday by Superior Court Justice Nancy Mills to 25 years in state prison, with all but 12 years suspended and eight years probation, said Evert Fowle, district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties.

Kivlin had already pleaded guilty to a similar armed robbery in January in Unity, Waldo County. Police detected a pattern in the robberies.

A sentencing agreement was arranged by the Waldo County District Attorney’s office and Fowle’s office, Fowle said.

In all three of the robberies Kivlin was armed with a handgun and a knife and demanded narcotics.
