FORT KENT – The University of Maine-Fort Kent earned a split in women’s soccer action over the weekend, beating the College of St. Joseph 5-0 on Saturday before dropping an 8-2 decision to Lyndon State College in Sunday’s action.

On Saturday, Maria Watson scored twice as the Bengals earned a win over the College of St. Joseph (Vt.).

Amber Nadeau and Mindy Watson each added a goal and an assist for 2-4 UM-Fort Kent. Liz Clavette had a goal and Heather Hartman made two saves.

Kate Chase stopped 17 of 38 shots for the 1-3 Saints.

On Sunday, Kelly Warren racked up four goals and an assist to power the Hornets of Lyndonville, Vt., to victory.

Corin Hall made two saves for 5-0 Lyndon State and Hartman made 13 saves for the 2-4 Bengals.

Lyndon State 4, UMPI 0

At Presque Isle Saturday, Meg Skidmore scored twice as the Hornets rolled over the Owls.

Kelly Warren added a goal and an assist for 3-1 Lyndon State (Vt.), while Kari Johnson chipped in with a goal and Corin Hall stopped all four shots she faced.

Anna Lenentine made 17 saves on 21 shots for 3-2 UM-Presque Isle.

Maine 3, Marist 0

At Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Sunday, Heather Hathorn powered the Black Bears with two goals as Maine blanked Marist.

Maureen McHugh also scored for the 5-3 Bears and Marie-Michelle Bouchard chipped in with an assist. Jasmine Phillips had one save on seven shots.

Caitlin Nazarechuk and Anna Case combined to make six saves on 12 shots for the 1-6 Red Foxes.

Bowdoin 3, Colby 2

At Brunswick, Katherine Whitley scored two goals to lead Bowdoin to its 27th consecutive win over Colby.

Kelsey Wilcox notched the other Polar Bear score in the second half. For 3-0 Bowdoin, Anna Shapell made nine saves on 13 shots.

After trailing 3-0, Colby answered when Laura Williamson recorded a goal. Liza Benson made eight saves on 17 shots for the 2-1 White Mules of Waterville.

Castleton State 4, Thomas 2

At Waterville Saturday, Amy Yandow scored three goals to lead Castleton State (Vt.).

Tracy Stala notched a goal and two assists for the 3-1 winners. Kim Allen saved eight of 16 shots.

Freshman Brittany Morin and Toby Martin each scored for 1-3 Thomas. Jessie Craft made 10 saves on 20 shots.

Thomas 1, Johnson State 0

At Waterville, Ashley Martin scored an unassisted goal at 23:36 to lead Thomas College to the win on Sunday.

Jessie Craft made 12 saves on 17 shots for 2-3 Thomas.

Jacqueline Brennan stopped nine of 14 shots for 2-4 Johnson State College.

USM 4, Rhode Island College 1

At Providence, R.I., Julia Cyr and Liz Brunton each scored a goal and had an assist to help lead the University of Southern Maine to victory on Sunday.

Devin Edwards and Eva Hanson each scored a goal for the 5-2 Huskies of Gorham. Dianna Thibaudeau and Jenna Wasylak each had an assist. Mindy Morneault made four saves on nine shots.

Gina Calenda scored on a penalty kick for 3-2 Rhode Island College. Krissie Pyzynski stopped four of 13 shots.

Maine Maritime 6, Becker 1

At Castine Saturday, Amy Asselin notched two goals and an assist to send MMA on its way to victory.

Kristen Gaylord also scored two goals, while Kaitlyn Leeman and Jessica Taylor added one each. Meghan Marshall didn’t make any saves and faced two shots.

Lisa Spicher notched Becker’s only goal and Katrina Kinebel saved six of 33 shots.

Maine Maritime 2, Elms 0

At Castine, Jessica Taylor scored on a Kristen Gaylord assist at 9:40 lead push Maine Maritime Academy past Elms College on Sunday.

Kristin Gabor added an insurance goal at 18:42 off of a Taylor assist for 4-3 Maine Maritime. Meghan Marshall stopped all eight shots.

Lauren Stauch made two saves on four shots for 1-4 Elms.

UM-Machias 8, SMCC 0

At Southern Maine, Leila Schank recorded a hat trick and Angela Qualey had two goals to carry Machias to the win.

Erin O’Callahan, Jaqueline Corbett, and Caitlin Heller also added goals.

Jessie Kuester saved one of two shots for the shutout.

For the Seawolves, Danielle Bission made six saves on 20 shots.

Husson 2, Elms 0

At Bangor Saturday, Elissa Gordon came off the bench to score the go-ahead goal off an assist from former Bucksport High teammate Shaina Goode at the 15:49 mark to lift the Eagles to victory.

Meridith Horner added an insurance goal for 3-3 Husson and Leah Drew stopped five of eight shots.

Lauren Staunch made seven saves on 15 shots for 1-3 Elms College of Chicopee, Mass.

Husson 5, Becker 0

At Bangor Sunday, Elissa Gordon, Laurie Melen and Danielle Billings each registered a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles.

Shelby Morissette and Tatyana Wolterbeek chipped in with a goal apiece and Leah Drew made one save on two shots for 4-3 Husson.

Danielle Caron stopped 18 of 27 shots for 2-4-1 Becker College (Mass.).

UMF 2, Johnson State 1

At Farmington Saturday, Jodie Welch scored the game-winner in the second half as the Beavers edged Johnson State (Vt.).

Erin Campbell assisted on the game-winner for the 2-1 Beavers. Kelsey Burk scored in the first half. Melissa DeMerchant and Kerry Kowalcyk didn’t need to make a save.

Lacey Riesins scored on a penalty kick for 0-2 Johnson State and Julie Borah had nine saves on 15 shots.

Castleton State 2, UMF 1

At Farmington Sunday, the Spartans scored twice in a five-minute span during the second half, to tip the Eagles.

Casey Wedge scored the first goal for Castleton State (Vt.) and the second came after a scramble in front of the net. Kim Allen made nine saves on 17 shots.

Jodie Welch tied it for the Beavers, while Kerry Kowalcyk and Melissa DeMerchant combined to make nine saves on 11 shots.

Maine 4, Manhattan 1

At Orono Sunday, Ben Wilcox had a goal in each half as the Black Bears topped the Jaspers.

Adam Chenault and Kevin Forgett each chipped in with a goal. Jason Jacobe had two assists and the 2-4 Bears got one assist apiece from Cooper Friend and Ryan Kelley. Chad Mongeon stopped five of nine shots.

Justin Schultz scored for 0-6 Manhattan and David Mires made three saves on 14 shots.

Lyndon State 2, UMPI 0

At Presque Isle Saturday, Jeff Giroux made six saves on six shots to earn the shutout for Lyndon State (Vt.).

Anthony Mocci and Rob Carey each scored a goal for the 1-3 Hornets.

Scott Clenchy stopped two of four shots for the 3-2 Owls.

Lyndon State 3, UMFK 2 (2OT)

At Fort Kent Sunday, Mike Thatcher’s double-overtime goal boosted the Hornets past the Bengals.

Rob Carey and Tony McAloon also recorded goals for 3-3 Lyndon State (Vt.), while Jeff Giroux had 10 saves.

Rob Rochester and Donatas Sumyla scored for 1-3-1 UM-Fort Kent. Nick Thibodeau stopped 11 shots.

CMCC 4, NMCC 3

At Presque Isle, John Wiggins scored three goals to pace Central Maine Community College of Auburn.

Alban Karamez added a score for 3-1 CMCC. Andrew Cormier made four saves on six shots.

For 0-3 NMCC, Josh Gonsioroski notched two goals, while Dennis Martin recorded a goal and an assist. Justin Lyshon made two saves on six shots for Northern Maine.

Bowdoin 2, Colby 1 (2OT)

At Brunswick Saturday, Bowdoin senior Andrew Russo scored the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime.

The 3-0 Polar Bears’ first goal came 14:44 into the game from Wolf Greuber. Nathan Lovitz saved four of nine shots.

Colby’s tying score came off a header from Will Kinder. Josh Kahane made eight saves on 24 shots for the 1-2 White Mules of Waterville.

Castleton State 1, Thomas 0

At Waterville Saturday, Justin Fleming scored on a header off a Bryan Woodbury corner kick in the second half to lead Castleton State (Vt.) to the shutout victory.

Dan Gregory had seven saves on 11 shots for CSC, while Ryan Conrad saved 14 of 19 shots for Thomas.

Johnson State 3, Thomas 2 (2OT)

At Waterville, Devin Corey scored his second goal with 14 seconds left in the second over time to lead Johnson State.

Sam Johnson also added a goal for 3-3 Johnson State. Keeper

Tyler Simpson scored an unassisted goal in the first half for Thomas, 0-3-1. Ryan Buttice tied the game for Thomas in the second half.

RI College 1, Southern Maine 0

At Gorham, Kyle Teixera scored an unassisted goal 7:41 into the game to lead Rhode Island College to the win on Sunday.

Sean Gonsalves stopped one of four shots for 2-3 Rhode Island College.

Chris Willard made three saves on 13 shots for 1-3-1 University of Southern Maine.

UM-Machias 2, SMCC 0

At South Portland, UMaine-Machias ‘keeper Zach Sheller made three saves on seven shots to record the shutout.

Mike Zeidler and Brett Howarth each scored goals for the Clippers.

Southern Mane Community College goalie Jon Breard had 11 saves on 19 shots.

Maine Maritime 3, Becker 1

At Castine, Chad McDuffie scored three consecutive goals to lead the Mariners to victory during homecoming weekend.

Two of McDuffie’s goals were unassisted, while the other was off a penalty kick.

Aley Riche notched the only goal for Becker College (Mass.). Chris Kirwan made one save on 10 shots.

For Maine Maritime Academy, Josh Heath of Bangor made five saves on eight shots.

Maine Maritime 1, Elms 0

At Castine, Ben Tourangeau scored an unassisted goal at 23:09 to lead Maine Maritime Academy to victory on Sunday.

Joshua Heath stopped both shots for 3-2 Maine Maritime.

Philip Joyce made five saves on six shots for 0-6 Elms College.

Unity 6, Hesser 3

At Manchester, N.H., Matt Belonick scored two goals and assisted another to push Unity College to victory on Sunday.

Matt Pickowicz scored two goals for 4-1 Unity while Brett Longwell and Rick Rudolf each added a goal. Tyler Ferguson made six saves on nine shots.

Emmanuel Kimama, Yaw Addow and Eric Landry each scored a goal for 1-2-1 Hesser College (N.H.). Carmine Mafiello stopped 14 of 20 shots.

Husson 5, Elms 3

At Bangor Saturday, Shane Coffin racked up two goals and three assists in the Eagles’ win.

Chris Cacela and Kyle James each chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Oscar Ody added a goal for 4-3 Husson. Chris Jackson made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Anthony Marchetto led Elms College (Mass.) with two goals and Nick Pellegrini stopped five of 11 shots.

Husson 2, Becker 1

At Bangor Sunday, Oscar Ody scored on a breakaway initiated by a through-ball from Pat St. Hilaire with 15 minutes left in the second half to lift the Eagles to victory.

Husson’s Shane Coffin scored off a Josh Barlett cross five minutes into the game, but Becker’s Eric Malo tied it up 36 seconds later.

Chris Jackson made three saves on four shots for the 5-3 Eagles, while Chris Kirwan stopped six of 17 shots for 2-3-2 Becker.

Castleton 2, UM-Farmington 0

At Farmington, Dan Gregory stopped two of UMaine-Farmington’s 10 shots to record the shutout for Castleton State (Vt.).

Justin Fleming and Ryan Hahn notched a goal each for 4-3 Castleton.

For the 1-2-1, Beavers, Eric Stailing and Ben Foster teamed up to save four of 17 shots.

Field hockey

UMaine 2, UMass 1

At Orono, Kim MacDonald scored off a scramble in front of the cage in the second half to rally the Black Bears past the Minutemen.

MacDonald also assisted on a Shaunessy Saucier goal scored with about three minutes left in the first half, tying the game for 5-3 Maine. Maygan Cassarino and Rebecca Giroux combined to make seven saves on 13 shots.

Lauren Gillespie scored on a redirected shot 15:50 into the first half for 3-5 Massachusetts. Becky Letourneau stopped five of 13 shots.

USM wins 2-1 in shootout

At Salem, Mass., Saturday, Denise Minigell and Samantha Johnson each converted a penalty stroke to lead the Huskies of Gorham past the Vikings.

Southern Maine’s Kayla Vaughan scored in the 32nd minute but Salem State responded in the 56th minute with a goal from Kara Beauregard.

Sadie Garnache made eight saves on 10 shots for 2-3 USM, while Christina Ferriara stopped 15 of 27 shots for 1-4 Salem State.

Bowdoin 3, Colby 1

At Brunswick Saturday, Burgess LePage, Allyson Craib and Hillary Hoffman each knocked in a goal as the Polar Bears topped the White Mules.

Margaret Gormley added an assist for 4-0 Bowdoin. Kate Leonard stopped five of 11 shots.

Kyla Wagman scored in the second half for 0-2 Colby of Waterville and Jamie Enos made 12 saves on 15 shots.
