HARTLAND – The Indian Lake Area Homemakers Cooperative Extension will hold its third annual Autumn Daze Workshop for men and women beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Community Center in Hartland.
“At first thought, crafts may seem frivolous, given all that has happened in our world … from wars and terrorism to Hurricane Katrina. On the contrary, crafts are all the more necessary in times of stress and need,” say organizers Miranda Simmons and Becky Adams.
Workshops offered are: Rug Braiding (a chair pad), $18; Building a Backyard Greenhouse (in the gymnasium), $13; Weaving a Shaker Cat Head Basket, $21; and a 3-D Chick Pincushion (origami meets quilting), $8.
“The act of creating,” the organizers said, “helps focus one’s thoughts on a positive goal. To create something to make our homes more cozy as fuel costs rise, or help the budget by making a beautiful gift – these skills help us cope by empowering us.”
A buffet lunch will be available for $4, or bring your own lunch.
Class sizes are limited and fill quickly. Registration deadline is Saturday, Sept. 24. To obtain more information, call Miranda Simmons at 938-4530 or Becky Adams at 368-3323.
