BANGOR – Passenger traffic at Bangor International Airport increased 9.1 percent during August 2005 compared with August 2004. A total of 59,466 passengers passed through BIA in August compared with 54,511 last year. For the first eight months of 2005, passenger totals are up 7.05 percent at the airport.
“BGR’s growth this year has been fantastic,” said Rebecca L. Hupp, BIA director. “With our competitive prices, excellent connectivity and all-jet service, we are attracting more residents of the region. Every passenger counts.”
Hupp said more local travel agents are starting to schedule passengers at Bangor rather than sending them to airports to the south.
“Bangor is emerging as a centerpiece of activity, such as the American Folk Festival, and our ever-growing air service options are a big asset to the region,” she said.
