Bangor police responded to a car parked on the sidewalk in front of the Main Street Shaw’s supermarket on Monday. David Joyce of Deer Isle, who had his 3-year-old son with him, said he went inside the store to find his wife.
Joyce showed visible signs of intoxication and admitted to taking methadone. Joyce claimed his doctor told him that he is able to drive a car while on methadone. The sobriety test disagreed. Joyce received a summons for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Police Officer Myron Warner reviewed a surveillance tape at the Odlin Road Dunkin Donuts on Monday. The tape, from the previous day, showed employee Mathew Williams of Bangor taking $138 from the drive-through cash register. Williams then asked for a 15-minute break, from which he never returned. When questioned at home, Williams denied taking the money and said he left because his supervisor made him sweep the parking lot with a broom. He was summoned for theft.
