High schools in Hancock and Washington counties are encouraged to begin forming teams for the May 2006 Downeast Regional Envirothon competition.

Each school may have up to two teams of five students each.

Teams will be tested with hands-on tasks involving five natural resource areas: aquatic, forestry, soils, fish and wildlife and a current national environmental issue.

The winning Maine team qualifies for the Canon North American Envirothon finals. For information contact Sharon Foss at 207 255-4659 or e-mail conservation@maineline.net
