BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

RICKY PORTER

Porter, a senior quarterback and defensive back for the Brewer football team, rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns and made 10 tackles as the Witches rallied from a 13-0 deficit to defeat Gardiner 20-16 in PTC Class B play. Porter averaged 15.7 yards per carry and scored on runs of 3 and 70 yards.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BRANDON TOMAH

Tomah, a junior forward for the Woodland boys soccer team, had four goals and an assist in two matches as the unbeaten Dragons improved their record to 4-0. Tomah had two goals in a 5-0 victory over Calais, and followed with two goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Washington Academy of East Machias.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

JILLIAN ROSS

The Belfast junior field hockey player had a goal and two assists in the Lions’ 3-0 victory over previously undefeated Leavitt last Thursday. She also had a goal in a 4-0 win over MCI on Tuesday. The defending Class B state champions are 7-0.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MELANIE ALLEN

Allen, the soccer goalie for Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics, helped the Eagles go 1-1-1 in their previous three games. She made seven saves on 13 shots to preserve a 0-0 tie against Van Buren, gave up three goals in a loss to undefeated Class C Madawaska, and shut out Fort Fairfield 3-0. Limestone/MSSM is now 7-3-2 and was on top of the most recent Eastern Maine Class D Heal points standings.
