FARMINGTON – Heidi Parker’s first-half goal lifted the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over the Husson College Eagles Wednesday.
Melissa DeMerchant stopped all four shots she faced for 3-2 UMF while Leah Drew stopped nine out of 17 shots for the 4-4 Eagles of Bangor.
Maine Maritime 5, Thomas 2
At Castine, Kristin Gaylord knocked in two goals and dished out on assist to lead the Mariners to a North Atlantic Conference victory over Thomas College of Waterville.
Amy Asselin added two goals of her own and Nicole McKenna one for 5-3 Maine Maritime. Meghan Marshall had four saves.
Toby Martin and Brittany Morin scored for the 2-4 Terriers.
Field hockey
Thomas 1, UNE 0 (OT)
At Biddeford, Amy Miles tipped in a shot by Cynthia Bouchard in sudden-death overtime to give Thomas its first win of the season.
The Terriers of Waterville improve to 1-2, while UNE falls to 1-5.
Jen Lane recorded five saves for Thomas, while Krystal Wysocki saved five shots for the Nor’easters.
Men’s soccer
Harvard 2, Maine 0
At Cambridge, Mass., Charles Altchel and Anthony Tomaritis recorded a goal each to lead Harvard past Maine.
Ryan Johnson stopped all 10 shots he faced for 1-1-1 Harvard.
Chad Mongeon had six saves on eight shots for 2-5 Maine.
NMCC 4, EMCC 0
At Bangor, Dennis Martin scored two goals to help Northern Maine Community College win its first game of the season.
Shawn Boucher and Ryan Stevens also recorded goals.
Jay Horung and Justin Hearon each scored for 0-5 Eastern Maine CC.
Aaron Moody made eight saves on 10 shots for the Golden Eagles.
Justin Lyshon saved seven shots on nine attempts for 1-3 NMCC.
Unity 7, Central Maine CC 1
At Unity, Daryl Aresco knocked in three goals to lead Unity College to the win.
Matt Pickowicz, John Korkos, Adam Morcow and Matt Belonick added a goal apiece for 5-1 Unity. Tyler Ferguson had six saves on eight shots.
Josh Thorne scored for Central Maine Community College of Auburn, now 3-2. Matt Latham stopped 15 out of 24 shots.

At Castine, Alan Alexander scored two goals and Chad McDuffie added one to lead the Mariners to victory.
Josh Heath got the shutout for 4-2 Maine Maritime. McDuffie added an assist.
Ryan Conrad was in net for 0-5-1 Thomas of Waterville.
