HAMPDEN – Andre Cushing’s penalty kick with six minutes left in the first half and J Uhrin’s goal three minutes into the second half led the Hampden Academy Broncos to a 2-0 schoolboy soccer win over the Messalonskee Eagles Friday.
Scott Hiller had an assist for the 6-2 Broncos and Max Silver finished with two saves.
Kyle Joseph made seven saves on 16 shots for 2-5 Messalonskee of Oakland.

Mt. Blue 5, Nokomis 1
At Newport, Devin Fereirra scored a pair of goals as Mt. Blue of Farmington earned the victory.
Greg Allen, Dan Hayden and Brad Dority added goals for the 5-2 Cougars.
Corey Harding scored on a penalty kick for 1-7 Nokomis.
Justin Davis made nine saves on 14 shots for Mt. Blue. Wayne May made 13 saves on 18 shots for the Warriors.
Waterville 5, Brewer 0
At Waterville, Sean Ralph had a hat trick with three goals to lead Waterville to victory.
Dave Labbe and Teddy Worcester both scored a goal for the 7-1 Purple Panthers. Jack L’Heureux and John Jabar each assisted two goals. Zach Jochem made one save on three shots.
Chris Brady stopped three of 13 shots for 2-5 Brewer.

Bangor 3, Lawrence 0
At Fairfield, goalie Austin Smith recorded a shutout, helping the Rams remain undefeated at 8-0.
After a scoreless first half, Cam Cormier, Adam Towne and Zak Martin all notched goals. Dylan George and Jojo Hwalek each had an assist.
Michael Brooks made eight saves on 18 shots for the 3-5 Bulldogs.

MCI 7, Medomak Valley 0
At Pittsfield, host Maine Central Institute scored all seven of its goals after intermission to improve its record to 5-3.
Brandon Glencross had three goals for the Huskies, while Mark Trombley and Eric Sobey added two goals each. Kyle Liimetainen and Alex Sidelinger each had an assist for MCI.
Tristan Goewey earned the shutout with two saves on four shots. Andy Balser made eight saves on 29 shots for the 1-7 Panthers of Waldoboro.
Piscataquis 4, Penobscot Valley 3
At Guilford, Shane Tracy scored an unassisted goal with 6:38 to play to lift the Pirates to a hard-fought victory.
Roy Burdin scored on two first-half penalty kicks for Piscataquis, while Andy Zimmerman converted a Mike Wharff pass for the go-ahead goal in the second half.
Ryan Martell made 20 saves on 24 shots.
Ryan Ware tallied two goals for Penobscot Valley of Howland and Matt Cummings had tied the game at 3-3 with 7:16 remaining. Brian Harris made 23 saves on 27 shots.
Lee 6, Southern Aroostook 1
At Lee, Drew Pickering scored three goals to push Lee Academy to victory.
Peter Pickering scored a goal and assisted on two others for the 3-3 Pandas. Everett Houghton had a goal and an assist and Minh Gu Rhee added a goal. Kris King stopped seven of eight shots.
Jeremy Boutilier scored an unassisted second-half goal for 7-2-1 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook. Colby Clark made 14 saves on 29 shots.
Machias 2, Woodland 0
At Woodland, Mike Little scored on a Zach McNally assist 15 minutes into the second half to power Machias to the win.
McNally added an insurance goal with 12 minutes left for 6-1 Machias. Garrett Getchell stopped all 14 shots as the Bulldogs avenged their only loss of the season.
Craig Moody made nine saves on 11 shots for the 4-1 Dragons.
The game was halted with approximately five minutes left in the match after a skirmish between the teams on the field that came after players from each team were issued yellow cards.
Penquis 4, Searsport 1
At Milo, Adam Ballash scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Penquis.
Robert Veno, Nathan Allen, and Leigh Dolley each scored a goal for 1-7 Penquis and Jon Portillo had an assist. Nick Emery stopped 17 of 19 shots.
Ethan McHatten scored a goal for 3-3 Searsport, and Dan Peach made 12 saves on 22 shots.
Washington Acad. 3, Sumner 0
At East Machias, Milos Gautier scored twice and assisted on the third to pace the Raiders.
After scoring twice to give WA a 2-0 lead, Gautier set up Julian Washington for the final tally. Trevor Jessiman and Aaron Ackley also had assists in the game.
Josiah Jackson made eight saves on 11 shots for the 3-3 Raiders.
Mason Young stopped 14 of 20 shots he faced for the 2-4 Tigers of East Sullivan.
Dexter 2, Orono 2 (2OT)
At Orono, Aaron Woodman tied the game with 17 seconds left in regulation for Dexter.
Dan Beatham scored off a Brandon Woodman assist in the first half for 6-1-1 Dexter. Chris Eastman stopped seven of nine shots.
Jeff Normand scored on a Lee Hecker assist with 14 minutes left in the second half for Orono, and Chris McConnon scored with seven minutes remaining. Mat Lint made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Girls soccer
Waterville 4, Brewer 0
At Brewer, Paige Gardiner scored two goals to lead Waterville past Brewer.
Stephanie Whiten had a goal and an assist for 7-0-1 Waterville and Brittany Gardiner scored a goal. Chelsey Cook added two assists and Taylor Hart stopped all seven shots.
Carolyn Tuck made 12 saves on 16 shots for the 2-5 Witches.
John Bapst 6, Ellsworth 1
At Ellsworth, Whitney Sinclair sailed three goals into the net, helping the Crusaders improve to 5-1.
Molly Jones, Maggie Kane, and Kari Havnewick each recorded goals while Caroline Cassling saved seven of 12 shots for Bapst.
With the Eagles trailing 3-0 at halftime, Emily Miller put the 5-2-1 Eagles on the board with a goal assisted by Maggie Harding. Catie Cravens made five saves on 14 shots.

Bucksport 0, MDI 0 (2OT)
At Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island’s Christina McKay and Bucksport’s Katie Hurd each recorded shutouts in the double overtime contest.
Hurd made seven saves on 12 shots for 5-1-2 Bucksport and McKay stopped 14 of 17 shots for 2-3-2 MDI.
Field hockey
Piscataquis 5, Orono 1
At Guilford, Annie Agnew scored twice to lead Piscataquis to the win.
Kelsey Martel scored a goal and assisted another for 5-3 Piscataquis. Ashley Davis and Hattie Agnew both scored a goal and Kellie Martel had an assist. Jessica Pratt made one save on two shots.
Emily Artesani scored a second-half goal for 2-6 Orono. Kristine Kittridge stopped three of nine shots.

Hampden 5, Hermon 2
At Hermon, the Broncos scored four second-half goals to cruise past the Hawks after the teams were tied 1-1 at the half.
Alisa Hamilton scored two goals, while Kathryn Gause added one for the winners. Tini Lumino netted a goal in each half and had an assist for Hampden.
Ashley Ross and Lillian Barry each scored for Hermon. Carrie Cole made 17 saves on 22 shots.
Katie Hessert stopped seven of nine shots for the Broncos.
Nokomis 2, Bangor 1
At Bangor, Alyssa Bragdon and Dana Gardner both scored a first-half goal to lead Nokomis of Newport to victory.
Beth Flanders stopped two of six shots for the Warriors.
Sarah Quinn scored in the second half for Bangor. Sarah Frisk and Sarah Hanselman combined to make 12 saves on 24 shots.
