Gov. Baldacci ignored the will of the majority of Mainers when he passed his anti-discrimination law. People voted twice against “special rights” for homosexuals, yet our omniscient governor decided he knew better, and took matters into his own hands.
My view is that this law is redundant, as all people already have the same rights, regardless of race, creed and sexual orientation. You cannot legislate how people feel deep in their hearts, no matter how many laws are on the books. This law is superfluous and frankly, unnecessary.
Don’t be taken in by the rhetoric of the pro-homosexual agenda. This really has nothing to do with hate and everything to do with common sense. The Constitution applies to all persons, and that includes homosexuals.
Please use that common sense and vote yes on Question 1. It’s the right thing to do.
