PORTLAND – Bruce Crowder and Mike LaZazzera have been named assistant coaches for the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Crowder most recently served as head coach at Northeastern University for the last nine seasons, and the former Boston Bruin has 23 years of college coaching experience overall, including a stint as an assistant at the University of Maine from 1986 to 1990. He went on to coach at UMass Lowell for six seasons before moving to Northeastern.

LaZazzera has AHL, East Coast Hockey League, NCAA, and junior hockey coaching experience, and started his coaching career as an assistant at Maine in 1993-94.
