DEDHAM – A Brunswick woman and her passenger escaped serious injury Sunday when the vehicle in which they were riding rolled over near the top of an incline known locally as Twin Hill.
Darby Goss, 30, and her passenger, Benjamin Callnan, 28, also of Brunswick, were traveling north on U.S. Route 1A about 11:15 a.m. when Goss was forced to make a sharp right turn to avoid a vehicle that had been swerving ahead of her, Deputy Shane Campbell of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.
The maneuver sent Goss’ 1997 Mazda into a skid, after which the car left the highway and traveled down into a ditch. When the car’s front wheels struck, the momentum caused it to flip over onto its roof.
Emergency rescue personnel from Dedham’s fire department examined Goss and Callnan at the accident scene, but neither required a trip to the hospital.
Campbell said Goss and Callnan both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Goss’ vehicle was demolished.
